Re: Courier to Dovecot Maildir conversion
We went through a courier to dovecot conversion. There are a couple of things that might be causing this problem. 1. Dovecot namespaces 2. Client configuration Your namespaces might not be taking into account the fact that courier prefixed all files and directories in the maildir with a dot (.). You can get around this a couple of ways. We had almost no IMAP clients under courier, so

Help please: Migrating Courier imap - Dovecot (Postfix virtual mailbox domains)
I'm trying to migrate from qmail to postfix. The original server is combo of qmail and Courier imap (no pop mailboxes) I have a working Postfix config and had imap working with Courier imap on the new server. I thought I would experiment with Dovecot as it has some good press. I have moved the contents of my original maildir's to the new server and ste permissions and group membership

Problem installing latest dovecot w vpopmail
Hello - I am trying to migrate my dovecot installation from an older server running version 1.x to the latest 2.0.3 When I run configure --with-vpopmail, it bombs pretty quick as follows: ./configure --with-vpopmail checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p checking for

rsync --link-dest, --delete and hard-link count
Hello fellas, Firstly, I would like to apologize for the post being long, but I would appreciate if someone with a good knowledge of the subject gave his opinion. I am working on a backup solution for a series of old and very specialized host computers in aviation industry. I need to do monthly backups of one or two logical volumes (non-OS) on each of the computers and keep the last 12 monthly

Problem migration from Courier-Imap to Dovecot
Dear friends, My intention is to migrate from Courier-Imap Dovecot 4.4.1 to 1.1.16, the problem is that I've noticed that when creating folders using the Courier does not create the file courierimapsubscribed therefore I doubt if this will bring me problems trying to perform the migration script by courier-dovecot-migrate.pl drwx------ 8 vpopmail vchkpw 4096 Jun 18 16:38 . drwx------

Courier migration and vpopmail with dovecot-lda
I've been using Dovecot in some fresh installs lately and have found it fairly easy to configure. However I'm starting on a migration that involves moving from some very old software (ancient vpopmail, qmail and Courier). On the Courier front, I've reviewed the migration page in the wiki, and it looks like the main concerns are just matching the namespace and then using the migration

vpopmail, maildrop, courier-authlib combo
Hello, I was wondering if I could post in the Howto section how one can make use of the vpopmail virtual mail system on Centos 4 and integrate it into other parts of Centos 4 along with some helper tools. Of course if the information is accepted but in a different section that is fine. Wiki name = Feizhou

Maildir subfolder conversion from courier-imap
Hello, I am trying to convert a maildir that was managed by courier-imap up to now to dovecot. I am using the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl script as follows: courier-dovecot-migrate.pl --convert --recursive ~/Maildir However, this command only seems to convert the base maildir, but not all the subfolders. I thought that that's what the --recursive option was for. Is the command above

replacing Courier imapd
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi folks, I currently use courier imapd, exim and ldap on my mail box. There are no users on this box, all info is taken from the ldap server. I note that dovecot does not use ldap as a backend, but curious if this in on the cards, or even mysql backend. Sean - -- Sean Rima http://www.tcob1.net Linux User:

migrating from Courier
I've been running postfix/courier-ssl/MySQL/postfixadmin for years, but since I am in the process of building a new server I decide to reexamine my options. I'm sticking with postfix, but I've decided to move from courier to dovecot because everyone is telling me it's much faster, and I really dislike courier's SASL setup and integration with other services. Of course, I have

Storage upgrade maildir suggestions?
Hi, we start to run out of diskspace soon as our users start to keep mails for longer time periods. That's fine, but space consuming. The maildirs are about 1 TB in total, and not long ago we enabled zlib which is very nice. Now I have some thoughts about the next steps: a) Migrating the whole system to a new server with more storage? b) Install a virtual server for the mailsystem and an

Maildirquota
Hi, I'd like to use dovecot+postfix (with Maildir) for several virtual email servers, but one requirement is quota support. I'm aware about the lack of maildirquota support in dovecot, and I found a patch in the "unofficial patches" section which is said to provide maildirquota support to dovecot. How stable is this patch?, is it usable with dovecot 1.0b2?. And, is there

Migrating maildirs - Courier to Dovecot
I apologise, because I'm sure this subject has been done to death, but I want to migrate from Courier to Dovecot. I think my main question is whether there's any reason I shouldn't just rsync the maildirs across from the old mail server to the new one? There aren't many clients using this server, so I don't care if clients have to redownload all their messages (in fact, I
