Repot: Problems with Fedora core 5, Dovecot and Thunderbird - is this a Dovecot bete3 bug?
Hi
One Wed I posted the following message and have had no replies. I am
reposting as I think this is a Dovecot bug but I am not sure. If anyone
can assist on this I'd be most grateful.

mbox-sync-update.c error
Hi,
I think the problem is in Dovecot. I'm using both Evolution and
Thunderbird on a Gentoo box.
One of my folders keeps locking up and the clients can't retrieve the
messages. The situation appears to be triggered by trying to move a
message into that folder. Deleting the index files
(under /var/log/dovecot/xxx/) solves the problem (temporarily).
I get these error messages in the

Replicating failing after installing RODC
We've joined an RODC to the domain (Windows 2008R2 running a W2003

It was joined with:

RODC DNS oddness
I just checked the SOA records on my samba DCs and noticed a few oddities:
michael at sles-bree:~> for i in ad{1..4} sles-bree sles-shire; do host -t

main.adlab.netdirect.ca has SOA record ad1.main.adlab.netdirect.ca.

main.adlab.netdirect.ca has SOA record ad2.main.adlab.netdirect.ca.

Urgent problem: Dovecot fetches the same mails multiple times per POP
I have a problem since a couple of hours:
I manage several mboxes on a virtual server using Dovecot (over POP3).
Until a few hours ago, it worked well, but since 11:50, the e-mail clients which access Dovecot's mailboxes, receive all e-mails new each
time the mailbox is queried.
For example:
15:40 fetches 22 new mails
15:41 fetches the same 22 mails again as new
15:42 fetches the same 22

NT won't start network
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
This is a strange problem, which I never used to have. Samba was
working fine for me until I changed the hostname of my Linux computer.
I changed all the configuration files on both Linux and Windows, so
the old hostname is definitely not lurking anywhere.
Now when I boot up Windows and I'm physically connected to the network
with the Samba server, the

FreeBSD 5.4/Dovecot 1.0.b3: lots of error messages
Hi!
I installed Dovecot from the FreeBSD port. I have about 20 users on this
machine and used popper before switching.
I get a lot of error messages like:

inserted in the middle of mailbox /var/mail/xxx (37326 > 35874, seq=1,
idx_msgs=26)

middle of
mailbox /var/mail/knute (379664 > 585, seq=2, idx_msgs=1): 1

I've been getting these lately. Any idea what causes them? Should I
worry about it?
Thanks,

Leave mail on server leads to dup messages
Hi. I'm a dovecot newbie. I've set my pop client to leave messages on the server for 7 days. I'm downloading the same messages over and over as dovecot appears to be overwriting X-UID's in the mbox's. I can't think of any other program on the system that might write to the mbox other than postfix (and that program doesn't appear to be writing X-UID). My setup has one

Using 1.1.2. I'm getting the above message over and over in the error log.
Dovecot drops the connection and the client (Tbird) just keeps retrying in
an endless loop.
Using Wireshark to sniff the exchange, it looks like the command that fails
looks like this:

Need help with "mbox sync" problem

Making changes to dovecot log levels
Hi Timo,
Awhile back I'd written about making changes to some of the log levels
that dovecot writes to to stop the process from writing these to monitor.
I wanted to run a few changes by you for this, just to make sure these
won't cause problems somewhere else. And to send this to the list, in
case anyone else wants to make similar changes in the future.
