Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

first crack at auto-trash plugin
I have written an alpha version of an auto trash plugin for dovecot. When compiled in any mail expunged from a non-Trash folder is moved to a folder named Trash. As of yet the folder is not created if it doesn't exist (the process fails before expunge). I would appreciate feedback of any sort. In addition, I am currently getting an error I haven't been able to puzzle out in the

auto expunge trash
Hello, Can this be done? configurable number of days? Like to move from courier, but this is the only thing we really need to convince us to change, it is no good telling users to periodically delete trash, they never listen :) Quey

automaticly move expunded emails to trash Folder
Hi I try to migrate from courier to Dovecot. Is there a way to get the same behaviour of Courier-imap with dovecot, about expunged emails ? I though about using the Lazy-Expunge plugin. The problem with this plugin is the following: messages are moved and set to be deleted in the Trash Folder. I would like they weren't set to be deleted. Is there a way to mitigate the behaviour of this

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
You can use mdbox_deleted driver to access mails with refcount 0. Setting for deleting old messages from Trash?
Hi. Just switched to Dovecot from Courier last week and have been very pleased so far. The conversion was extremely painless, and I only hit a few small configuration issues before I was able to get the server up and running. Since then, I've been quite pleased - Dovecot's been very stable, and a good bit faster than courier as well. However, there's one nice feature from

Quota and Trash
Hi, I finally got a grip on our mail guys to try out Dovecot after they started migrating a ~15k user mailsystem to Maildir+NFS (Netapp)+Courier and the performance was not as good as expected. So far the results are impressive, although there are of course a few small issues to be solved. One is the current Quota handling, which they use with Courier IMAP and (still) think it needs to be

Reproducible duplicate messages bug with Mail.app+Dovecot
Hey guys, I am not sure if this is a Mail.app bug or a dovecot bug. I can reproduce it 100% of the time using dovecot and Mail.app. I cannot reproduce it with other imap clients, which at first made me think it was Mail.app, but then I tried Mail.app with other imap servers and couldn't reproduce it either, so it's definitely the combination of the two. So I thought

Move deleted to trash
Is there a way to have messages marked to be deleted move to the trash folder automatically? I have moved from courier-imap (which dovecot performs muck better) but the one feature I really need is move to trash. Is there any plugins available for this?

replacement for IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7
While running dovecot on debian etch using version 1.0.rc15-2etch3, i wonder the following: If i read the config files correctly, dovecot seems to have no equivalent of courier's IMAP_EMPTYTRASH=Trash:7 setting. Therefore, i wrote a script that dives into the user's directories and their maildirs. It looks like this: ============================================= #!/bin/bash for pad1

why do I get ensure changed 'purged' to 'present' on a package when it is already installed
Hi all, I have created a squid class that also installs squidGuard. When I run puppetd I always get notice: //Node[xxxx.xxxxxx.xxx]/squid/squid::install/ Package[squidGuard]/ensure: ensure changed ''purged'' to ''present'' even though the package is already installed - why is this change in package status happening as it then triggers my exec resource which is

Messages not moved from Inbox by Apple Mail (Dovecot 1.0.10)
I just upgraded a server from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot, and I'm seeing some odd behavior. It's probably the result of something I did wrong in my configuration, and I'm hoping someone will let me know the easy fix for it. I have rules set up in Apple Mail to move and copy messages to different folders, some of which are IMAP folders, others on my own system. With

exclude a folder for lazy expunge (move to trash)
Hello, I'm configuring lazy expunge plugin to act as a kind of backup of my user's emails. I'm getting a little problem because a lot of my users use "move to trash" behaviour in their email client (most of them are using thunderbird which has no option to hide deleted messages and is a hassle working with mark as deleted with it). The problem combining move to trash

Sent / Drafts / Trash folders and subscribing ?
Hello, I am trying to migrate our configuration that use Courier-imap to dovecot, appart some users that have some issues with pop and leave messages on servers that retreive all mails into their mailboes... but this is ok for me :).. One problem that it seems that Sent / Drafts and Trash folder are not automaticaly added as subscribed folder... I really dunno about IMAP rfc or standard, I

Moving mail between folders
Hi, Ive just installed Dovecot and postfix and Ive created a whole bunch of folders and started moving my mail around. Ive noticed that it copies the mail to the folder I wish to move the mail to and leave the original message waiting to be purged in the original folder Is there a way to have dovecot delete it straight after it has been moved? as I don't think users are going to take well

quota reporting and mail.app
Hi everyone. I can't get mail.app to report back correct quota information using mail.app and dovecot (though it works with courier-imap). I am looking at migrating away from courier-imap to dovecot but this issue is something I need to have resolved <somehow>. Thunderbird is fine and reports back good info on either connection. I am off to read RFCs (can't I just read the

Expuning & Purging doesn't fully remove emails?
Hello, I'm facing an issue where deleted emails keep re-appearing after my mailbox index gets recreated.??I'm running version 2.2.36 of dovecot, but I tested the same scenario under 2.3.10. I'm also using mdbox, autoexpunge, and using dovecot replication. I've had several instances now where some expunged emails show up again in a mailbox. I noticed this error: doveadm: Error:
