I built and install Dovecot 2.0Beta4 on my NetBSD/amd64-current system, and am seeing the user-owned imap processes busy-looping. In Dovecot 1.2.x (and 1.x and 0.x..) I force ionotify and ioloop to kqueue, so I suspected that was the problem. Turns out it's not: Using poll or none also causes the same problem. This did not happen in 1.2.8 (didn't try anything later than that).

Since no-one have complained about previous RCs, I guess it's release time. Since -rc2 I added the ioloop.c assert fix, and 64bit Solaris fix. Hello! I've just upgraded dovecot from 2.0.18 to 2.1.8 and configured impac. I notice dovecot/imap throws segfault from time to time. I'm not sure i know what steps are needed to reproduce problem. I'm using gentoo, hardened-kernel-3.4.2. Namespaces (and settings for imapc) are keept in database so i'm not sure doveconf would be useful. If would be needed please let me know.
