Bug in gssapi support
Hi, Was trying to use the gssapi support and the authentication would consistently die for me. The following patch fixes: --- src/auth/mech-gssapi.c.orig 2006-01-10 15:46:10.000000000 +1300 +++ src/auth/mech-gssapi.c @@ -138,7 +138,7 @@ static OM_uint32 obtain_service_credenti return major_status; } - gss_release_name(&minor_status, gss_principal); +

Kerberos password auth/expiry kbdint patch
I took Markus Friedl's advice and set up a KbdintDevice for Kerberos password authentication/expiry. It took me a bit to wrap my head around privsep, but I think it's working properly (code stolen shamelessly from FBSD's PAM implementation :->). The hardest part was working out how to get the interaction between krb5_get_init_creds_password() (along with the prompter) to work

Patch to restrict other auth methods from allowing root password authentication
The attached patch restricts any keyboard-int method from allowing root password authentication. Other methods (bsdauth? I don't even really know what that is) could be added as well. FWIW, it appears that when using the "password" method the code in auth.c is never reached due to the following code in auth-passwd.c: #ifndef HAVE_CYGWIN if (pw &&

of the remotely connected socket is in in monitor_read(). The easiest way to pass them in would be to add fields to the Authctxt structure, which gets passed down into auth_krb5_password(), although possibly not the best. Perhaps using a prompter isn't the best way to go, either, I'm not sure. Ultimately, I'm simply looking for any pointers as to the best way to proceed, even if

Samba PDC/Windows BDC domain sync
I have everything in place to move to a Samba/Heimdal/OpenLDAP auth database and have just discovered that some of the Windows products we use are required to run on a domain controller. Since domain sync doesn't work between Samba and NT4 it looks like I'm stuck: either ditch all the software we run on domain controllers, stay with our current 2-auth-db system, or move at least our

Kerberos password change patch
Attached is a patch that allows for an interactive Kerberos password change via keyboard-interactive, and also reports any banners received from krb5_g_i_c_p() (e.g., password expiration notification if you have krb5-1.2.x patched appropriately). This could probably be refactored a bit and probably done better, but I'm sending this in in case anyone finds it useful. The major drawback is

Kerberos GSSAPI - proper item name in keytab
Hello, ALL. I am trying to organize a transparent single sign-on concept for my Active Directory users into Dovecot via IMAP. On the user's desktop I use Thunderbird 6.0 as a mail client (MUA), Windows XP as an operating system. Domain is controlled by Windows 2008 Server SP2 with Active Directory. I have installed on my Mail server Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.2 (Squeeze) and Dovecot 2.0.13 from

Error "make install" of dovecot 1.0b3
I just downloaded dovecot 1.0b3 and running "make install" gives me an error This seems like a fairly simple bug in the Makefile ... but I'm not sure if maybe its a symptom of something more complex. I've tried "make uninstall" , "make install" and removing the entire /usr/local/lib/dovecot tree and same thing. dovecot does run ... but for other reasons

Coredump in dovecot-auth on gss auth
I've enabled the GSS code in dovecot, but our Kerberos nerds are complaining that it doesn't work :) I probably have the thing totally misconfigured (so don't worry about that part for now), but I do have a crash: Info: imap-login: Disconnected: rip=XXX.YYY.229.8, lip= XXX.YYY.17.59, TLS handshake Error: auth(default): gssapi(?,XXX.YYY.229.8): While acquiring service credentials: No

CentOS 7.5, Apache 2.4, Kerberos
Hi List, My goal in sending this email is to get some direction on where to start looking to solve my problem. Thank you all in advance for reading through this and providing any guidance! I'm working on moving to new servers, upgrading from CentOS 6.7 to CentOS 7.5. In this move, we are also upgrading from Apache/2.2.15 to Apache/ 2.4.33. Our servers are all sitting behind a load

Messages not expunged
Hi all, I'm doing some testing between U of Washington IMAP server (which we currently run) and Dovecot on a IBM AIX system. I created a 50M mailbox, made up of 262 msgs. I'm using a Perl Script with the imap::client module to fetch each message and then flag it for deletion. At the end of the test, I run an expunge to delete all the messages. UofW imap server ran fine, messages

Bug in Kerberos support for openssh.
It took me a while to track this down. I am using MIT Kerberos 1.4.3 and libgssapi-0.7. With some patches that came with Suse 10, but that doesn't appear to be relevant. I have been using openssh-4.2p1 (with Simon's patches) and openssh-4p3p2 out of the box. I see the same problem no matter which version of openssh I am using. I am using two Suse Linux x86 boxes as a test

Converting huge mbox to Dovecot mbox + indexes
Migrating from UW IMAP/Qpopper mbox to Dovecot mbox. I have ~500 users, some with HUGE mbox (500MB-1GB), is there a script to create the Dovecot indexes at night to help speed up the migration process. Any idea. Thanks Bertrand Leboeuf leboeuf at emt.inrs.ca

[PATCH] Support GSS-SPNEGO natively
I cooked this up while trying to figure out why thunderbird on Windows w/ SSPI was not working, but it turned out thunderbird does not use it, so I haven't been able to test it yet. I'm presenting it for discussion only, unless someone else can try it :) Modern versions of MIT kerberos support GSS-SPNEGO natively, but are only willing to negotiate for kerberos tickets and not NTLM

Corrupt mbox handling
I've found that if an mbox file has two consecutive 'From' delimiters, I get the error: pop3(user): Error indexing mbox file /var/spool/mail/user: LF not found where expected UofW apparently ignores the second 'From' silently. I've been trying to run dovecot in gdb to get more details on exactly what is happening, but I haven't quite mastered the art of attaching to
