preserving pop3 mail uids
Is there some way that message uids can be preserved when converting uw-pop3 mbox mail to dovecot maildir format? We've tried perfect_maildir, mb2md and the convert-tool that comes with dovecot but so far have been unable to preserve the message uids, which for example go from 44333a8500000003 before the conversion to 4434621500000003 afterwards. The quantity of mailboxes involved means

Sync errors trying to sync old mbox inboxes to dovecot
We are currently running dovecot 2.2.rc3. I am trying to 'dsync mirror' old Qpopper/mbox inboxes to our new Dovecot/mdbox servers. For most of the several thousand accounts, it works without issue. But there are a handful of accounts that are generating the following errors. dsync(joe): Error: Sync failed for mbox file /var/opt/migrate/users/joe/inbox: seq=981 uid=981 uid_broken=0

Forcing a sspecific stream type
That is transcoding. If you are attempting to achieve good audio quality, this is exactly what you don?t want to do. This is like taking a .jpg and making another .jpg from it. /greg. Bug in fts (solr?, Maildir?) incorrect last_indexed_uid
Hi, I thought I should document this. (Dovecot 2.2.9, see config at bottom.) I installed dovecot and then converted a number of mbox mailboxes to Maildir, and had a number of pre-existing Maildir mailboxes. I then installed the debian (wheezy) fts-solar and jetty packages, and tested my inbox using the "telnet localhost imap ... 3 SEARCH text "test" method as described on the

newbie questions
Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance. Since a system administrator's work is most successful when nobody knows you've done anything....(ugly that...you get neither raises nor equipment funding as a result), I prefer to learn from other's experiences rather than fail in the same pits. We are considering a switch from UW to Dovecot, since our users persist in using

Forcing a sspecific stream type
Is it possible to force Icecast to stream in a specific stream type, such as OGG, regardless of the source or input? For example, if a streaming client connects to an Icecast server with an MP3 format stream, can Icecast be forced to send it out as OGG or AAC or anything else? Or does Icecast simply pass the stream through unconverted?

WRE about R_strtod
Hello, This is what "Writing R extensions" currently says about R_atof and R_strtod: >> Function: void R_atof (const char* str) >> Function: void R_strtod (const char* str, char ** end) >> >> Implementations of the C99/POSIX functions atof and strtod which >> guarantee platform-dependent behaviour, including always using the >> period as the decimal

MAILDIR environment
from docs/mail-storages.txt: "Also as a special case, if MAILDIR environment exists, maildir storage is used with the directory specified in it." Forgive me if this seems obvious, but is this talking about setting MAILDIR as an enivornment variable? I have it set on my system in both /etc/profile and ~/.bash_profile: MAILDIR=/path/to/maildir/ export MAILDIR and have confirmed this

How to serve two "inboxes" via imap
Hi In our setup we have mail delivered to /var/spool/mail/<username>. Many users like thunderbird as their MUA and we typically have thunderbird set up to read mail using a movemail account with the local mail directory set to ~/mail so that the mail can be read easily by pine as well. So, when a user clicks the "Get Mail" button in Thunderbird, mail is moved from

BRIstuff/OctoBRI problem: Ring requested on unconfigured channel 255/255 span 5
Hi all, I just posted this question before last week. Meanwhile after upgrading Asterisk 1.0.7-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RCg to 1.0.8-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RCh the same problem occurs, but seems to be more seldom. Attached is now the output of "zap show channel" . - I'm running a stable Asterisk on a HP DL380G2 1.4Ghz 0,5GB RAM equipped with 1x TE410P and 2xJunghanns OctoBRI running in NT-mode.

Users with large (4GB) inboxes crippling dovecot
Hi all, I'm new here and would very much appreciate any help you can give me. We are running a rather outdated mail server that until recently has been running beautifully. Under the pretense of "it is ain't broke, don't fix it" it hasn't been updated so is running Fedora Core 4 and dovecot v0.99.14. What is happening is that as users log in (via thunderbird), they
