problems connecting to the Problems connecting to mysql
Hi,
I'm trying to setup a mailserver running postfix and dovecot with mysql
as database backend. Postfix is already running and delivers mails just
fine. Unfortunately, dovecot has great problems connecting to the
database (using username + password).
Found that two threads about the same issue but none of them solves the
problem

mdadm exim mysql
I installed a CentOS-5 core OS (using --nobase in my kickstart).
For some reason, it included mysql-5.0.22.
When I do "yum remove mysql", it says it will also remove
exim and mdadm for dependencies.
I don't care that exim will be removed, but I need mdadm as
I'm doing software RAID.
But why are these even related? When I do:
rpm -q --requires mysql
neither exim or mdadm is

Currently using dovecot 2.0.12 and mysql server 4.0.20 (I know, it's
really old) and having issues getting Dovecot to authenticate to the mysql

Exim-dovecot-Horde/imp-Mysql
Dear all,
I'm running a linuxbox with ' Dovecot<->Exim<->horde/IMP<-> Mysql ', this is a
very good combination and works excellent for the system users.
Now I want to change the configuration and authenticate against the mysql
database from horde. That way it is much easy for me to create (virtual) mail
users. I also want to use the mail alias of the horde users

MySQL "access denied" problems
Now that I was able to debug it myself, I found that it's caused by the
same problem as before: Conflicting sha1_result symbol. This time only
linking succeeded without errors, but at runtime it was still using the
wrong one.
So I updated the wiki page: http://wiki.dovecot.org/MysqlProblems

Issue with exim and auth protocol
Hi,
I'm trying to set up exim (4.83) as a submission server, and need to set
up the dovecot authentication in exim. I'm having an issue with that
(documented at <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=756258>)
The problem is that exim doesn't follow the handshake as described here:
<http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Design/AuthProtocol>. The wiki page says that

Using classes from extnode to define config files?
Hi all,
I''m using cobbler as our external node manager and it''s working really
well (including deployment of ActiveMQ from RI''s RPMS and Mcollective -
blog post coming soon!) however I''ve run into a problem with exim
configuration files.
We use exim in a number of different configurations depending on the
role of the server (webserver/antivirus/outbound

Apache wakes-up inactive Exim
Had a surprising event on C 6.5.
Exim was the only MTA installed. It was partially configured (with ACL,
Router, Transport) and definitely not running.
I was remotely testing a web page. A web page error condition invoked
the embedded PHP mail() command.
To my astonishment something in Centos woke-up Exim. Exim sent the email
and then became inactive again. The Exim logs does not show any
