Can't join machines to a Samba PDC using LDAP
I've been trying to do this for days, and I think I'm really close. It's
become one of those so-close-yet-so-far sorts of things. I'm running
Gentoo -- all sync'ed up and current as of a week ago -- with the
following package versions:
openldap-2.1.30-r5
pam_ldap-178-r1
nss_ldap-239-r1
smbldap-tools-0.9.1-r1
phpldapadmin-0.9.5 (very cool, I must say!)
samba-3.0.14a-r2

The new Linux IGD support
Hello Tom,
I tried the new UPnP support of shorewall, olny to stumble upon a
LinuxIGD bug. Specificaly, the UPnP chain is read as UPn from the
upnpd.conf . I double checked it, there some bug in the upnpd, it
doesn''t process 4 lettered names correctly. Could you change this
chains'' name to something a little longer?

LDAP authentication stops working...
Hi all,
I'm running dovecot-1.0.rc17 on OpenBSD 3.9, using userdb and passdb
methods of "ldap" (SSL on 636/tcp) in addition to "passwd".
Occasionally (generally after a few hours of operation, but not always),
LDAP-based logins stop working (e.g. hang/timeout after POP3 PASS
command). Accounts with local passwords (as opposed to accounts with a
password field of

Problem with AUTH causes serverside lockup
Hello all,
I am running Dovecot alpha1, and after about 24 hours of the server
working fine, it starts to lock up when I open Thunderbird to check mail.
Basically I can see new mail, but when I click it, it just hangs at
"Loading message...".
I get the following in my maillog:
Aug 23 09:25:28 palantir dovecot: auth(default): client in: AUTH

1.0 alpha1 released
As promised a few days ago, 1.0.alpha1 release is now available from
Dovecot web page.
Changes since 1.0-test80 include only one mbox assert crashfix and
removed fsync() call when writing to transaction log, making it a bit
faster.
I changed the version number also since 1.0-tests to 1.0.alpha. I know
'-' is problematic to binary package builders, maybe the new versioning
is better?

Logging options
Hi,
is it possible to configure dovecot's logging so it logs stuff like
"User x logged in from IP/Host y and had z new messages" like I'm used
from qpopper?
That immensely helps when debugging PEBKAC issues.
Enabling auth_verbose isnt really helpfull since a failed login
generates 4 lines, some even without a pid - so it's a bit hard guessing
which log entry belongs to

Very odd issue with Win7 and trust relationships
Hello all,
We have just concluded a very drawn out test of our domain that
is having some trust relationship problems with Windows 7 desktops. Here
is a breakdown of our setup:
roark PDC running samba 3.4.7 (also has OpenLDAP) on VLAN 2
archives3 BDC running samba 3.4.7 (also has OpenLDAP) on VLAN2
arrowhead BDC "home server" running samba 3.4.3 on VLAN 9

cross compling openssh-3.5p1 for ppc
Greetings:
------------ BACKGROUND --------------------------
I am using the Monta Vista development kit on an Intel RedHat Linux
platform... the target is PPC_405.
The configure utility that comes with the openssh-3.5p1 code will not
support cross compilation. It gives an error message about not being able
to test its results and then exits before it creates a Makefile. To get
around this

can't load x100p card
Ok, I have 2 PC's that are identical. I loaded Redhat9 on the first and
Asterisk and installed a x100p card and it works fine. I ghost the first PC
and install the ghost on the second PC. Everything comes up on the 2nd PC
but I can't get it's x100p card to load. The systems sees the card, it's on
interrupt 11. It shows up in /proc/pci and /etc/sysconfig/hwconf and lspci
shows it

Today I updated to trunk the toolchain for my work developing on

that actually attempt to improve the machine code generation for my

work on compiler correctness or architectural elegance or formatting

scp filename quoting
Hi,
I just made a patch to "correctly" support special characters in scp at
the remote side. First let me explain the problem:
# cd /tmp
# touch this is a test
# cp this\ is\ a\ test a\ test
# scp localhost:$PWD/a\ test this\ is\ a\ test
scp: /tmp/a: No such file or directory
scp: test: No such file or directory
but
# scp localhost:$PWD/a\\\ test this\ is\ a\ test
a test
