Mixed IMAP/POP3 environment and message status flags
Hello All,
I'm trying to migrate from UW Imap to Dovecot (latest 1.0 beta 2). The
target is to go from the actual environment (Eudora + POP3) to a web based
IMAP environment (IMAP + SquirrelMail). While migrating we will need to
keep both environments for some time, with users having both the ability to
use Eudora through POP3 while in the office and also the ability to check

Mixed IMAP/POP3 environment: further informations
Hello All,
some further information. While waiting for some info I'm rolling back to
UW and I discovered that if I delete the user "~/Maildir" automatically
created by Dovecot, so including any index, the POP3 server works as
expected. So it isn't the "Status" flag stored in the mbox file that
prevents the download but some status information stored in the IMAP

INBOX as Maildir and folders as mbox
Hi,
I was wondering whether anybody has managed to get Dovecot 1.0 to store
INBOX as Maildir and folders as mbox.
I've tried something like
default_mail_env =
mbox:/folders/user/mail:INBOX=maildir:/inboxes/maildir/user:INDEX=/indexes/user
but it doesn't seem to work (treats INBOX as mbox).
I'm hoping to move some INBOXes from mbox on local disk to Maildir on
nicely-mirrored NetApp

unofficial Survey about your Dovecot server :) to compare with my own server setup...
Hi Borthers/Sisters
Thanks for all the developer(s) and for all the hard work spent on build
this great piece of software! I loved Dovecot since it is really easy to
set up and really fast but I am really new to it (only 2 weeks and
half). Right now, our server configuration is:
Server: Apple Xserve G5 dual
RAM: 4GB
Number of Users: ~ 150 IMAP only users
Authentication: LDAP

Severe pop3 incompatibility report
Hello,
According to our experiences, most recent dovecot incompatible with
eudora pop3 client
- eudora (5.1, 6), pop3, 'leave on server' enabled: the clients receive
the full inbox *every time* they check the inbox on the server.
[Users using other MUAs experienced the same once, at switching from
uw-pop3d/imapd to dovecot.]
That is absolutely devastating, especially for home users

Inconsistent Mailbox with Eudora as POP3 client
Hello everyone,
one of our customers using
QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 7.1.0.9
as POP3 client with Dovecot 1.0.0 under Linux using Maildirs reports
that on various accounts they get occasional "inconsistent mailbox"
errors at quit.
The same Docevot binary in the same environment on other servers works
fine for several other customers and ourselves. We use Postfix 2.2

I am trying to run Samba 2.2.4 on solaris 2.8 with W2K clients. I have an NT

Problem with pop3 login
Hi,
Im using dovecot version 0.99.11 and I'm facing a situation with one
pop3 client.
This is a fax application (faxmaker for windows) written by a third
party that tries to login to the dovecot as USER username at domain. When
the application tries to login that way, my dovecot rejects the auth.
All the other pop3 clients (outlook, eudora, etc) in the system log in
correctly because they do

3com 3c509
I have used 3Com 3c509 nic width bnc coax. I have experienced that these
cards used width FreeBSD and Samba is unusable due to speed. I tried to
change the 3com card with a NE2000 compatible card, and there was a major
change in speed. Has anyone else experienced such problem.

bug: very strange behavior with pop3
Hello,
We have some strange problem which could be related to authentication here.
All our user info is in an openldap directory. We normally use
pam/getpwent in dovecot to access our user accounts, via
nss_ldap/pam_ldap, but we tried to connect directly to the ldap server,
with the very same results.
We have one user (out of 100) which just cannot use dovecot with pop3.

Hi folks,
I'm new to WINE and have actually read the docs, so go easy on me. My
machine is setup to dual boot between Red Hat 7.2 and Windows2000. This
is what I get when I try to run Eudora 5.1 from my Win2k partition.
This is as far it'll go--no window ever displays. I get identical
results with either WINE 20020122 or a CVS snapshot from yesterday
evening. Let me know if

OT: Evolution folder location
I have used Eudora since v 1.35 (circa '93). For quite some time, I
have enjoyed keeping each of my mail accounts' folders in totally
separate directory trees. In Eudora you do this by specifying the
data locatoin as part of the startup: '<program location>/eudora.exe
<data location>'
So I am quite spoiled. But there is no Eudora support in Linux/CentOS.

Problems copying some files from windows to linux
Hi,
This might not be entirely samba server related, but the problem I am
experiencing is affecting a planned implementation of a new Samba
Server, and from the smbmount man page, it appears that this is the
recommended list to reqest help - so hopefully someone might be able to
assist :-).
I am running a Debian Linux machine (kernel 2.6.0) with Samba 3.0.1
which will soon be replacing an

Dovecot Assertion on mail server with POP3 and LDAP authentication
Running two Fedora 6 systems with all the latest updates as of a week
ago. One system is the mail server (sendmail, dovecot), the other is
the master (open)LDAP server with the mail server running a slave LDAP
instance.
The problem I'm having is the client pop3 users are frequently being
told their passwords aren't correct by their email clients (Outlook,
Eudora). They try again, a

Ongoing Eudora problems and a thanks
First off, thanks to the Wine team-- the 10/4 build is the closest to
working well with Eudora I have had since the one I currently run, which
was 1/12/01.
Second, thanks to Lawson Whitney for sending me the socket patch so I
could get the 10/4 build on the net!
Now, Eudora Light 3.0.5 is running much better under the 10/4 build. A
few little things are still wrong.

Help with Routes
I love the routes feature for RoR...until now. I''m trying to write tests
to make sure my urls are correctly mapping to the routes I expect them
to map to. This is driving me nuts because I simply can''t get any of my
tests to pass. I have thus concluded that routes must work differently
than I thought. I will try to explain my understanding of how routes
work. Via this

There seems to be a protocol mismatch between eudora and dovecot when

Eudora problems
Hi,
I recently had problems setting up Eudora to store its data on a network
share. The problem was that while it did work, it was incredibly slow, I
would estimate about 10 times slower than it should be. I did some
experimentation and found that it worked properly if the client was
running Windows 98, but not if the client was running Windows 95. I could
also get rid of the problem by turning
