Samba-created files with POSIX ACLs gaining execute bit
Hi all, I have a Samba share set up using POSIX ACLs as the permissions backend. I am seeing an issue where files created via the Samba get execute permissions whereas files created via shell do not. Here’s my demonstration using “share2” as the root of my share: [root at samba srv]# ls -l total 0 drwxrwx---+ 2 root root 65 Dec 17 18:40 share2 [root at samba srv]# getfacl share2/ # file:

Troubleshooting poor (small) random read performance -- serverid.tdb?
Hi everyone; Have a Windows 2012 based workload that generates many (20K+ PPS) small reads (Wireshark tells me the individual packets are typically less than 200 bytes and are Read AndX Request) from eight or so hosts to a Samba server running on RHEL 6.5. Samba version is the latest Red Hat provided 3.6.9 version. Things are going quite a bit slower than expected (as compared to the same

R version 2.4.1

firewallchain issues w/ 1.0.0 release
Hi, First, some software versions, just to get them out of the way: - CentOS 5.x through Centos 6.2 - Ruby 1.8.5 - 1.8.7 - Puppet 2.7.19 - Facter 1.6.11 Just a note - we''re working from the EPEL repos almost exclusively. I am working with the firewall module, and so far I am unable to use firewallchain. Some digging suggests that it''s not completely user error (though I

When configuring a SunOS 5.9 box running Samba 2.2.8a with security=domain, as per http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch04.html#samba2-CHP-4-SECT-7 I get the following error "could not fetch trust account password for domain" when trying to connect to a share via 'net use * \\server\share /user:domain\username' However, 'security=user' works correctly.

Samba 3 LDAP account db concepts
Folks, I some very basic questions with regard to Samba and LDAP backend account database use. I am familiar with LDAP and have been using ldap for a while now to store info for a variety of services. I have been using Samba as a stand alone file server with user account info in /etc/passwd for a while as well. I am now trying to build samba 3.3.0 as a standalone, non PDC, on solaris 10 using

RFE: if/else control flow in probes
Hi all, There''s a dead thread about this back at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5075157, but it would be really nice to have support for if/else control flow in actions. Reasons: 1. The ternary operator ?: is already there (though it doesn''t let you do anything with side effects) 2. The user can already write arbitrary and expensive non-cacheable predicates if

Configuration was done following this guide: http://www.howtoforge.com/samba-domaincontroller-swat-fedora8-p3 However Authentication against the AD server does not work. When I test winbind with: #

characterizing I/O on a per zvol basis.
Hey all - Time for my silly question of the day, and before I bust out vi and dtrace... If there a simple, existing way I can observe the read / write / IOPS on a per-zvol basis? If not, is there interest in having one? Cheers! Nathan.
