TFTP problems on FC4
Greetings to all. I am hoping someone can help me out with a problem I am having getting my Cisco phones, 7960s and 7940s, to download the appropriate files from our TFTP server. The TFTP server is running on Fedora Core 4. The TFTP server appears to be setup properly: service tftp { socket_type = dgram protocol = udp wait =

TFTP forking thousands of processes
Hi, I'm trying to debug crashing server, and I'm starting to suspect tftp server as one of possible culprits. The box is quad core Xeon with 4GB of memory serving as Asterisk PBX + some additional services (reporting, IS integration etc). Among others, it's also serving as provisioning box for over hundred of SPA504 phones. Phones are checking configuration files every 60s meaning

[CentOS 5] tftp-server, unable to create new files (even with "-c" option)
Hi all, I'm trying to setup a TFTP server to serve as repository for the config of all my Cisco network devices. As per the the tftpd man, I've added the "-c" option into the /etc/ xinetd.d/tftp (as follows) but I still cannot get write access (unless the file is already present). [root at chl1 ~]# cd /etc/xinetd.d [root at chl1 xinetd.d]# cat tftp # default: off #

tftp trouble
I am trying to tftp from a cisco router on my lan, but it is not working. All I see are these errors in the log. I can "tftp localhost" without a problem as well. Any suggestions on what I can check next? I don't see too much troubleshooting available search via google. Thanks. put command is not working in tftp server
Hi Friends, I am trying to configure a tftp server on Centos 5.0. get command is working fine but not the put command. I searched on the google and tried few things like 777 on /tftpboot, changing ownership to nobody on /tftpboot and also in /etc/xinetd.d/tftp, adding -c as server_args but still the problem persists. tftp -v localhost Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1), port 69

xinetd v. tcp-wrappers
I am interested in opinions regarding the use of xinetd versus the use of tcp wrappers. The two programs have similar functionality, but I find xinetd suits my needs better. The biggest problem is the age of xinetd, and AFAIK it is no longer being kept up. Are there any known security issues with xinetd? Another issue is that xinetd makes use of a non-standard inetd.conf layout, but

Can't get hpa-tftpd working on Slackware 9.1
Hi, I have a question on tftpd on Slackware - I know this is an embedded Linux forum, but I think it still must be the appropriate place to ask. I have hpa-tftpd V0.40 on Slackware 9.1. No matter what I do, I can't get files transferred to the tftp server. I just get timeouts - no messages in /var/log/messages or in /var/log/syslog - just dealthly silence. This is the configuration line

OT - How to test tftp for phones provisioning
Hi, I don't understand why a SIP hardphone can't provision itself using tftp. I'm very suspicious about my tftp daemon but I lack basic knowledge of Linux CLI to pinpoint what's going wrong and separate what belongs to SIP phone configuration from what comes from tftp server. What I would like to do is to add a given file in current /srv/tftp directory and test by hand that tftpd

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day, Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp? We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory, even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired. Thanks in advance! service tftp {

tftp-hpa server with multiple network interfaces
Hello, A host of mine which acts as a gateway for a cluster also acts as a dhcp and tftp server for the cluster nodes. Recently, for reasons that are not really important we changed the interfaces so that eth0 is conencted to our production network and the eth1 network is connected to the cluster's internal network. It was the opposite before. Normally, we want most of the services running on
