quota_warning threshold from ldap
Hello all,
I'm trying to get dovecot read three different quota_warnings values
directly from ldap. I configured correctly the quota_rule value, know
I'm trying to override this values:

quota_warning2 = storage=80%% /usr/local/bin/quota-warning.sh 80
quota_warning3 = storage=70%% /usr/local/bin/quota-warning.sh 70

Maildirs on AWS EFS
Hello,
AWS released one month ago a EFS system with administered life cycle,
which means that files not accessed in the last 30 days are moved to a
lower cost storage tier. Currently I hold my e-mail, delivered to
Maildir++ folders by postfix and retrieved with Dovecot, in standard EBS
volumes. This has the disadvantage that I need to allocate more than
enough space to ensure that the volume

feature request: maildirquota
Hope maildirquota++ is soon supported, without it, dovecot is useless in my
use (mail hosting with maildirquotas).
Also QUOTA cabability in dovecot is needed to get to use my webmail plugins
that use
a001 CAPABILITY to get quota support. Courier imapd supports this.

Mail.app + dovecot 1.2 + POP3
Hello all,
I have an user with MacOS X 10.5 Mail.app 3.5, which is connecting using
POP3 to a dovecot 1.2 server. He has a 512 kbps link, which he saturates
downloading large files. While the bandwidth is saturated, Mail.app
shows the POP3 account as "offline" (I haven't used that client, but it
seems that it doesn't retry the connection if it fails at some moment).

Best inode_ratio for maildir++ on ext4
Hi,
This might be a silly question: which would be
the best inode ratio for a 5 Tb filesystem dedicated to Maildir++
storage? I use ubuntu server, which has a preconfigured setting for
mkfs.ext4 called "news" with inode_ratio = 4096, and after formating the
fs with that setting and then with the defautl setting I see this
difference of space (wasted space, but more inodes):

Multiple instances of dovecot in the same machine.
Hello all,
I'm trying to run several instances of dovecot, with a different config
each one, following the instructions from here:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/RunningDovecot
I try the command
dovecot -c /etc/dovecot/installN/dovecot.conf
and get:

Maildirs++ on ext4
Hi,
happy after migrating from Courier to Dovecot without major issues, and
saving 3 Gb of RAM after the migration, now I'm going to move everything
to a 5 Tb RAID6 array. There's another thread on SATA and cluster fs,
but for now I'm looking for the best filesystem in your experience.
Currently I use Reiser, but I'd like to know if someone has worked with
ext4 and

missing .dovecot.lda-dupes file in LDAP/virtual user environment
Hi,
I'm running a postfix/dovecot/ldap setup and it works quite fine. I am now
trying to setup a global sieve script to forward all incoming mails to a
local user for vacation management (gnarwl). I can't user the vacation
extension of the sieve script itself because it is not configurable enough
(each user has his vacation message and status stored in LDAP).
The problem is that when

quota not being calculated
It looks like my quota isnt being calculated properly after I started setting quota to a specific folder. The quota in that folder is always starting out at 0, and only new email is being added to the quota. If I remove the maildirsize file, and recalculate, it still starts at 0. Once email arrives in the folder, it gets added to maildirsize. This is with maildirquota, in perhaps a bit of an

Wrong size calculating with maildirquota
Hello,
I'm using dovecot-1.0.5 with postfix. There is a problem which dovecot
folder's size calculating wrong. It doesn't calculates whole folders'
sum. Only maildirsize file keeps the first requested folder's size (in
this example, Inbox). The example shows Inbox's size, another folder's
size didn't add although connecting with IMAP. As the effect, I can not

Shorewall Release Model
The current Shorewall release model has the following characteristics:
a) The last two major releases are supported.
b) Only the latest major release is actively developed.
c) Bug fixes are available for the prior major release but only against
the last minor release.
d) The last major release is advertised as the "Current Release".
I''m thinking of switching to a model that

maildir++ specification compliance.
Hi folks.
I was doing some testing this morning and realized Dovecot RC2 isn't fully
compliant with the maildir++ specification.
Most notably, it appears that Dovecot isn't creating a "maildirfolder"
file (0 byte length) in folders it creates.

Deletion of destination files
Hi to all rsync users.
rsync's `--delete' option works fine in the following example: I'm sending all
the content of /home/rodolfo from machine1 to /home/rodolfo in machine2:
$ rsync --dry-run -vrtul --delete --exclude='/.*' . 192.168.0.2:/home/rodolfo
, and --delete works perfectly. Instead, in this other example:
$ rsync --dry-run -vrt --delete --modify-window=1 file1

maildri++ quota
When is the maildir quota usages recalculated and written to the
second line of the "maildirsize" file?
I'm using 1.1.4, and I reset the quotas for my users by just taking
the first line of their maildirsize file and deleting the rest.

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota
implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of
messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes.
So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of
