3.0.2p1: all sshd processes owned by root
Hi,
I installed 3.0.2p1 on our Solaris 8 systems this week (new to ssh),
and when I look at the process list for sshd, I see:
root 14547 1 0 10:35:29 ? 0:00 /opt/openssh/sbin/sshd
root 14548 14547 0 10:35:36 ? 0:01 /opt/openssh/sbin/sshd
Process 14547 is the deamon listening on port 22, but process 14548 is
my connection from elsewhere. I consider it a design

Help configuring dovecot for SSL
Hi:
I'm running dovecot on a Fedora 3 box and would like to be able to
make a TLS connection to it with my Pegasus Mail program running on
my Winblows machine. Does anybody know if it is possible?
If it is I could really use some help configuring my dovecot. I have
tried for several days but I really don't know what I'm doing and
need a direction to start.
Thanks,

Accessing printer from outside the domain
We need to give a user in another domain access to our printer:
our domain: OURDOM (samba)

mbox sync/lock issue, rc28 and later
Help!
I just noticed this error this morning, we have been getting a
lot of these in rc28 and rc29, not in rc27 or before:

Pine coughed up an internal error, no core dump, and dovecot

beta1: assert due to hard fs quota
Hi,
In the "for what it is worth" category... The following
assert popped up in beta1 on Solaris 9 this morning:
imap(user): file mail-index-view-sync.c: line 155
(view_sync_get_expunges): assertion failed: (ret == 0)
The user had hit a hard disk quota on their home directory,
ie where the indexes go. Dovecot cored with a zero-byte
core file in the user's home directory,

Sorry to bring this up again.
I have now configured my test server to pass all email messages off to
our central campus email filter gateway. This gateway scans all email
traffic for viruses/spam before being delivered to any local mail servers.
Once I did this my auto vacation replies are getting canned due to the
fact the from header line is empty

rc7 crashing under heavy load
Help!
Our students are back and they are pounding my dovecot server
to death (ie "Login process died too early - shutting down" or
"too many open files" type crash). I've had my third crash
today.
My setup: Solaris 10, imap and imaps, 3K users coming in via horde
webmail. My current connection settings are:
login_max_processes_count = 2048
login_max_connections = 4096

anyone running with Horde mail?
Hey again folks ;-)
Seems my auth is working afterall when I telnet to the IMAP port.
But darned if I can get it working with Horde web mail. Is anyone out
there doing this just first of all to confirm to me that the
combination works OK.
I don't care so much about shadow auth since apparantly my pam auth is
working just fine.
thanks,

winbind nss info : how does it handle multiple values?
It looks to me like the 'winbind nss info' parameter is designed to be a
space-separated list of values. I say this because:
1) i gave it two values, separated by spaces, and testparm(1) did not
complain;
2) the man page
( http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man5/smb.conf.5.html ) gives an
example of two values.
Assuming that's true, how do the multiple values work together? Is

dovecot/Active Directory/KRB client (OT)
Gang,
For those who asked about making a Solaris system a Kerberos
client to Active Directory, the magic document to have is:
http://www.connectathon.org/seam1.0/files/c0101.htm
See the section "How to Configure a SEAM Client Using a Windows
2000 KDC". SEAM was Sun's Kerberos client stuff in Solaris 8;
it is just there as part of Solaris 9 and 10. These instructions

How to run in debug format for SSL testing?
Help, new to dovecot...
I want to get some output from my test sessions to confirm that
SSL pop and imap are working. How does one get debug output from
dovecot? How does one see that dovecot is using SSL in a transaction?
I configured dovecot 0.99.13 with:
CC=gcc CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/openssl/include LDFLAGS=-L/opt/openssl/lib \

ssh - NO SALE or NO GIVE ?
Thanks to everyone who has replied to my emails so far - to summarise:
AIX allows setting of rlogin=false and and a su group, or a list of users
that are permitted to "su" to root. ( or other functional ids )
This means with entries in /etc/ftpusers, it is possible to :
1/ Track who used root via sulog and or external logging
2/ Protect root even if the root password is compromised
