still strugling
Hi all,
After I posted yesterday, I'm still struggling with dovecot 1.0beta1
I installed it on openbsd with no problem. But I can't get it to
authenticate plaintext on Unixware.
I had to add two include files <sys/types.h> and <sys/mkdev.h> in
compat.h because minor and major where undefined on unixware. I doubt that
could fail...
What's wrong with that conf:

Hello people!!
First, thanks very much to Ejay Hire and to John Peacock for your
quickly answer!!
Now, I've dovecot installed, I downloaded the source and I compiled

But.....as I am new in all these issues I have some problems with the
configuration.
I have a user called "webmaster" that have a mail into /var/spool/mail,

rc6 + ssl proxy patch = no go
Timo,
I nervously ran rc6 plus the patch:
http://dovecot.org/tmp/ssl-proxy-openssl.c
on my Solaris 9 box, in production, this morning. My dovecot.conf file is
attached. Like similar reports for BSD, rc6 fell over after an hour and a
half. The final syslog message was:
dovecot: [ID 920869 mail.error] Login process died too early - shutting down
I rolled back to rc2 for production.

I'm trying to set up a pop3 server for a project for class, but it keeps giving me the following error:
Error: Login user doesn't exist: dovecot
Fatal: Invalid configuration in /usr/local/etc/dovecot.conf
And I have no clue what's wrong. I've look and modifying the dovecot.conffile for days and I am not having any luck.

1.1b3 and Maildir quota
I upgraded a 1.0 install to 1.1b3. Almost everything is working
peachy-keen :)
It seems faster to me, Offline Folders and 'new mail' options for
Thunderbird are now working, and Mail.App doesn't seem to need the extra
namespace. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to read my quotas any longer.
I went through the docs, and I see the quota plugin has changed, but
there doesn't

Problem with vpopmail auth
Hello,
I've install 1.021 and am having some problems getting vpopmail
authentication to work correctly (running 0.99 in production, upgrading
to 1.021). I'm using vpopmail-5.4.16. Here are the authentication
debug statements in the log, my dovecot.conf changes from default, and
the schema of my vpopmail database. Any ideas / suggestions? I've
commented out all authentication

passdb checkpassword and lastauth
Hi.
If checkpassword interface is used for working with vpopmail, function
vpopmail "Record time and ip of last auth attempt"
(--enable-auth-logging option for configure) won't work - the file
"lastauth" is created in Maildir, but does not contain ip-address. If I
had correctly understood, dovecot woldn't have set a enviroment variable
TCPREMOTEIP for vchkpw.

shared folder files not displaying in thunderbird
Hello,
I have dovecot installed with the configuration below.
One of the subfolders created (using the email client) under the
'/home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.com/shared/projects' share no longer
(it used to) displays the files located in it. There are about 150
folders under the '/home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.com/shared/projects'
share all of which display the files located in

Moving messages takes a longgggggg..... time. (Timeouts?) dovecot.conf help?
Hi,
I'm trying to get dovecot set up better. I am using 1.0alpha3. It
takes a long long time to move messages for some reason. It seems it
may be a timeout thing, because neither the client or server is using
any cpu time or disk i/o or network to speak of. (To move maybe 400
messages, it seems to take maybe half an hour, maybe longer.) With
alpha 2 I was getting messages from

rc2x seems to break Pegasus Mail
Hi guys,
I upgraded from rc7 to rc24 a couple weeks ago, and noticed today that
Pegasus Mail's IMAP no longer connects. So I put rc27 in, and it
worked, but only for a little while...
I'm not sure what the problem might be, the logs look fine, and I can
still use Horde and Evolution without a problem. Pegasus Mail's error
is unfortunately not helpful.
Restarting rc27 didn't

Previously I used qmail+vpopmail+courier and now I want to use

During configuration the script detects my vpopmail installation and

squirrelmail doesn't display share
Hello list,
I have dovecot 2.0.11 installed on a client's server and Squirrelmail as
the webmail client. I created the share below in dovecot.conf and it
appears in Thunderbird and Outlook but not in Squirrelmail.
What setting do I need to adjust in order for the share to appear in
squirrelmail?
Below are dumps of /etc/dovecot.conf and /etc/squirrelmail/local_config.conf
# dovecot -n
