in a major jam...
I upgraded my dovecot installation from something <<1.0 to 0.99.14
today. I wasn't exactly planning to but it just came along for the ride
when I upgraded the rest of my system.
I was using postgresql for the authentication.
Nothing works.
the debug logs show that I'm able to make a connection to the database
table well enough:
auth(default): pgsql: Connected to dbmail

JIRA anyone?
I''m trying to evaluate what use I can make of JIRA with Rails/Ruby and am
getting frustrated.
The jira4r gem will install but the soap4r gem won''t load.
literally: ''irb -r soap4r'' returns :cannot load such file...
I also set this up in a Gemfile and tried to run this from the rails
console:

How to use the pass 'Unroll and Jam'
Dear LLVM developers,
Recently I want to try the pass '-loop-unroll-and-jam' to observe how the
IR is transformed, but I don't see the IR changed after doing the following
steps.
Here are the details for preparing my experiment and I have tried the LLVM

Dovecot authentication issue with postgresql
Good day,
I am having trouble getting dovecot to authenticate using postgresql.
For some reason, it fails on a PAM error, although I have specified pgsql
as authentication?
Here my setups:
dovecot.conf:

auth = digest_md5
auth_mechanisms = plain digest-md5
auth_userdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf
auth_passdb = pgsql /etc/dovecot-pgsql.conf

Authentification with PostgreSQL
Hi all,
I found Dag Wieers' Fedora Core 2 rpm on
http://dag.wieers.com/packages/dovecot/ and installed it. Now
dovecot-auth isn't complaining anymore about an unknown userdb type
but I can't get authentication working.
/etc/dovecot.conf

# plain digest-md5 anonymous

pam_setcred() without pam_authenticate()?
Should pam_setcred() be called if pam_authenticate() wasn't called?
I would say not; both of these functions are in the authenticate
part of pam.
It seems the the 'auth' part of pam config controls which modules get
called, so if you didn't to _authenticate() you shouldn't do _setcred().

review of my configuration
Over the last week I've set up dovecot and imap and imaps support.
I've even tried to break it but it's been doing very well.
Now I'm trying to set up a webmail interface. Rather than use the
common squirrelmail, I thought I would try openwebmail. Mainly because
it's written in perl, of which I am a big fan.
However, I ran into some errors in openwebmail that actually

PAM function ordering
Dear all,
I've been looking into hacking with some PAM modules, and thought I could
learn from the OpenSSH source (it's probably the closest thing to a
canonical cross-platform consumer of the API).
One thing I've noticed I don't understand though is how OpenSSH's
invocation of do_pam_session/setcred can work (in main of the process
forked in sshd.c). Ignoring privsep for the

POP3 dictionary attacks
I'm seeing strings of failed POP3 login attempts with obvious bogus
usernames coming from different IP addresses. Today's originated from
216.31.146.19 (which resolves to neovisionlabs.com). This looks like a
botnet attack. I got a similar probe a couple days ago. Is anyone else
seeing these?
The attack involves trying about 20 different names, about 3-4 seconds
apart. Here's a

Disabling logging during pam_authenticate
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Is there any way to disable logging of failures during
pam_authenticate?
I ask because OpenSSH is currently generating an extra "authentication
failure..." message at each login.
The problem is that OpenSSH likes to try a blank password attempting
any other authentication. This is a shortcut for anonymous SSH servers
(e.g. OpenBSD's

Locked account and logging in with public key
Hi!
I'm using Openssh v3.5p1 with Solaris 8 compiled with pam support enabled.
It seems that if I use public key authentication I can log in to an
account that is locked (/etc/shadow has *LK* as password).
Login is also allowed even if the user does not have a valid shell.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?
