[info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail. Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's list traffic. -- mail to this

Problem with HTTP traffic (very slow)
I have two machines running 4.8-RELEASE ... both sitting on the same switch, same hardware, same everything really. One gets 200k/s using wget / curl / w3m to a http address the other gets 6k/s to the same address. On the slow http machine I get 200k/s via scp or ftp to the same address it's just web traffic that is slow (note web traffic to all other locations is 4 - 6k/s as well). I've

Crash test :)
I'm considering to move my mails from maildir/mbox to mdbox. One of my doubts is: how can I restore my mails when something terrribly wrong happens. I understand that I should use doveadm import "backup_location" "mailbox" all. So I try to import with: doveadm -v import "sdbox:~/Mail/dbox-temp/spamcop/reports/" "#Dbox/spamcop/reports" all #Dbox

bind problem
I have bind running on two servers. Both servers are running bind-9.2.4-7. When I update a zone file on the primary and reload bind, the secondary receives a notify, but does not initiate an AXFR. The only way I can get the secondary to update is to delete the zone file on the secondary and restart named. Any ideas what might be wrong? Mike

Administrivia: Listing mail.mindrot.org in spamcop
Someone on this mailing list has been reporting spam emails forwarded by the mailing list to spamcop. This has resulted in several listings of my mail server in their database of spam relays and a significant amount of inconvenience for myself and the other users of the mail relay. You have all been warned in the list welcome message that this is an open list and that the occasional spam gets

Spamcop abuse reports for openssh-unix-dev messages
Would the person(s) who is reporting the occasional spam messages relayed through this list to Spamcop please refrain from doing so, or unsubscribe? You were warned that the list is open when you subscribed *and* that a small amount of spam would make it through as a result. As a result of this: my friend, who has generously dontated the use of a co-located server to act as a relay for this

SPAM on List...
Re: Per the discussions about spam on this list. Sending a confirming message to an unregistered poster is not a good idea. The return/reply-to addresses in spam is forged, and that is just adding to some victims e-mail. Filtering runs the risk that a legitimate message gets lost, and the sender does not realize it. Filtering is also the most expensive and innefficient way to deal with

Dual Opteron or Dual Xeon?
I am about to lease another server to be a backup web/mail server with a replicated mysql database. The current live server is a dual Xeon 2.8Ghz. Would I do better to get another Xeon server or an Opteron based server? My concerns are compatibility of the database and the SSL certificate currently running on the Xeon machine. Are these concerns unfounded? TIA Mike

lynx only shows : FRAME: wlmframe
Hello, when I log in through ssh to a remote site and open the web interface from a ( new ) printer using Lynx, it only displays : FRAME: wlmframe I suspect this is some unfriendly coding, that will cost me time in opening Firefox instead of Lynx or w3m. Does anybody know of a way around this? Greetings, Johan -- Johan Vermeulen IT-medewerker Caw De Kempen johan.vermeulen at

Spam to this list
Hi, I'm not sure what the policy of this list is and I bet everyone has a spam filter, so nobody might have noticed, but we got spammed. [OT] Online music database
(Already noting the posts that say this is not available) Are you willing to deal with "non authoritative" answers in your query? If so, you can write some scripts that talk CGI to a commercial music vendor. I use a (no longer available) MP3 tagger called "MP3 Internet Renamer". It would go out and request a web page from the "All Music Guide" (
