x86_64 reproducible server PANIC with latest kernel
Our Tyan VX50 server, which is otherwise stable, can be crashed by a
specific user who starts a Java application.
Relevant facts are:
x86_64 CentOS 4.3 fully updated (but otherwise default config)
8 Dual-Core Opteron 870 (2 GHz), giving 16 cores
32 GB memory (running at DDR333)
The panic is reproducible within a couple of minutes.
I tried the 2.6.9-42 largesmp kernel from J.Baron's website

alternate rawlog directory
Hello,
In rc2 sources, the rawlog directory seem to be hard-coded to be
looked for in $HOME.
I'd like to have a way to centralized the place where rawlog files are, in order to be able :
. to rotate them more easily
. not to leave them at the user's reach
. not to have to enter the user's directory to read them
I'd like to have a layout similar to this :

Proposal for improved grid() [non-backward compatible]
Not many of you will use grid() widely, probably.
Also, two months ago, Paul Murrell said on R-help (topic "grid command")
PM>> i think the abline() solution is the best for doing what grid() won't.
PM>> like you say, grid() is just a simple front-end to abline().
grid() *is* too simple to be of practical use.
I propose the following which is of some practical

R-alpha: plot(1); axis(1, at=10) >>> Seg.fault -- and a patch
This problem has been mentioned by Arne Kovac <maak@stats.bris.ac.uk> on May 9-10.
The patch is really a replacement of 'axis' in RHOME/src/library/base/funs/
It contains the fixes which where proposed Arne Kovac
and fixes (all?) the errors he/she (?) reported on May 9.
"axis" <-
function (which, at, labels = TRUE, ...)

R scripting patches for R-1.7.0
I've patched R so that it can be used as a scripting language, i.e.
you can (on Unix-like systems) write files containing R code
and execute them non-interactively, e.g.:
	#!/usr/local/lib/R/bin/R.bin --script
	cat("Hello World!\n")
I've updated the patches for R-1.7.0; if you're interested in the
patches, e-mail me at mckay@gmr.com, and I'll send them to you.
