I have my own IMAP mail server because I use my email as a way of filing important things, and I subscribe to a number of lists that I like to archive. I have about 40 mailboxes with up to 80,000 messages in some, and one with 40,000 messages is almost a Gigabyte in size. The total size is around 4

Hi All, I just upgraded to the new 1.1rc5 from 1.0 that I had been using and it advised me to increase the file descriptor limit. I'm not sure how to do this. Currently running 1.0.2 with 1.1b1 listening on a different port. On first pop3 login on 1.1b1 I received an immediate disconnect (I was testing with telnet) with the log entries below. Subsequent logins work fine. Other accounts that I tried did not have the same problem. So this is probably isolated to some bad indexes or something, but I thought I should let Timo know. I'm running beta7 on two machines, with maildir on NFS. I have lockd running on all machines. I've found that Dovecot is highly unstable with NFS when accessing a mailbox on more than one machine at the same time. Both dovecot machines have: mmap_disable = yes lock_method = fcntl NFS is version 3, exported from a third linux machine. All machines are running 2.6.9 kernel. Any ideas
