dovecot-auth %c variable is not working
In "doc/variables.txt" > For dovecot-auth there are also these variables: > > %c - "secured" string with SSL, TLS and localhost connections. > Otherwise empty. %c does not appear to be working. I am trying to use it in a MySQL query userdb and passdb query and it is always empty string. Timo, any chance you could post a patch that fixes this? Thanks,

[PATCH 0/10] NTLM patchset submission
Hello all, as I promised some days ago here is NTLM (aka SPA, aka MSN) authentication support patchset. It contains common code in src/lib-ntlm directory, Samba compatible NTLM password scheme and authentication mechanism itself. All patches are against 1.0-test30. Please take a look. Patch suggestion
Hi, Would it be possible to make a change in the configure file to search for gssapi.h in <kerberosV/gssapi.h> if it fails to find it in <gssapi/gssapi.h>? That would allow to compile dovecot with gssapi easily on OpenBSD without patching it. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... An alternate "dovecot-auth" daemon using cyrus-sasl
We use dovecot in a heterogeneous environment (Windows/Linux desktops and Linux servers). For unified authentication we use a sheaf "Samba/Openldap" (i.e., Samba NT domain with openldap backend and pam/nss_ldap for Linux). Windows users are authenticated well everywhere, but there is one old issue. As "SPA" (NTLM) against NT domain is not supported by dovecot, it is

Very minor feature request
Hello, I'd suggest a way to get to know the "capabilities" of a compiled Dovecot. The background is that I've run the sequence ./configure --with-ldap && make && make install twice, all three commands tell me that all is fine (ldap is listed in the modules), but still dovecot told me that ldap is no Usedb module. A "make clean" before solved the

[PATCH] Substitution of dots to ", dc=" in variable expansions
Hi list, my ldap directory uses DNs like this: uid=solist,ou=People,dc=solistland,dc=net,ou=Virtuals but I only could use something like uid=solist,ou=People,dc=solistland.net,ou=Virtuals with dovecot, which obviously isn't what the dcObject object class was meant to present. I've written a small function for var-expand.c which introduces a new modifier for string variable

RE: build errors on cvs
Building on Solaris 8 with Sun's compiler, I get the following error. Would you fix this? Using gcc is not really a good option for me. /opt/forte8/SUNWspro/bin/cc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../.. -I/opt/csw/inclu\de -fast -xarch=v8 -I/opt/csw/include -c buffer.c "buffer.c", line 159: void function cannot return value "buffer.c", line 205: void function cannot return

Problems using GFS2 and clustered dovecot
I am trying to use dovecot. I've got a GFS2 shared volume on two servers with dovecot running on both. On one server at a time, it works. The test I am trying is to attach two mail programs (MUA) via IMAPS (Thunderbird and Evolution as it happens). I've attached one mail program to each IMAPS server. I am trying to move emails around in one program (from folder to folder), and then

1.0-test33
http://dovecot.org/test/ I think I found and fixed the last bug that was giving me problems. Now that Dovecot has been successfully working for a few hours, time for a new test release :) This release has major changes, so there might still be some bugs left. Be careful. If you're upgrading from previous 1.0-test release, you must delete all existing dovecot.index.log files or you will get

Error in IMAP command GETACL: Unknown command..
Hi all, I have just installed dovecot on my Fedora Core 2 box. I would like to use it only for reading archived email from within my Mozilla 1.7.3. I syminked my old opera-files (*.mbs whoch seems to be same as mbox) into ~/mail. Seems to work fine, mostly I can open the mailfiles - sometimes it hangs with the following error: The current command did not succeed. The mailserver responded:

feature request: login in process title
Hello, I'm a bit afraid of users, the might slow down the server because of search requests to the imap-server on very large mailboxes. Even with a performant index, this could cause a lot of cpu and i/o-load. Is it possible to include the login-name in the imap process, so that a "ps ax" doesn't just give "imap", but e.g. "imap test at example.com"?

Ip addr + login name
Hi everybody, Is there a way to bind client ip address that connects to pop3 with the login name? For example if the client ip address is 192.168.2.40 then his login name is 'test' and he can log in with only that account name. I think it is possible to do it with an external authentication program. Thanks.

SASL AUTH LOGIN mechanism problems
Hi all, Have anyone had problems with Exhange 2003 servers trying to use sasl against Postfix+Dovecot SASL using the AUTH LOGIN Mechanism ? I've done some smtp debugging, and it seems that Exchange sends the usename at the same time as AUTH LOGIN i.e: AUTH LOGIN <base64_username> It then expects to be able to send the password. mech-login.c silently discards all data after AUTH

Oops, forgot about apop...
How does one go about generating a local password database for apop authentication? Or can it simply run against /etc/passwd, using a PAM entry? HMAC-MD5 / HMAC-MD5-context
$ dovecotpw -p testpass {HMAC-MD5}fe8522268d91e485ccac8f36800e4fa6b10363e2a371cfa61731109b450906cd I wonder if the prefix 'HMAC-MD5' is the correct notation here. According to RFC2104 an HMAC is calculated as follows: H(K XOR opad, H(K XOR ipad, text)) where H is the cryptographic hash function (MD5 in this case). Therefore the result has to be a 128 bit string, which is obviously not

Qpopper migration?
Hello, As this is my first post to the list, first and foremost I'd like to thank Timo for writing great software; we've successfully moved to Dovecot for over 10,000 users from UW-IMAP and get great performance. On our overloaded staff POP3/IMAP server, we are looking at replacing qpopper+uw-imapd with dovecot, as an interim before moving them to the main Unix mailstore. The system is

popa3d migration
Hello, I'm sure there is no good answer to my question, but it doesn't take much to ask, so I will. I am about to migrate my current Dovecot IMAP + Popa3d mailbox server to Maildir. I need to keep both protocols (IMAP and POP3) and will be switching to Dovecot on both. The question is simple - is there any way to keep POP3 UIDs through migration, so people won't get duplicates
