Hello. I tried installing dovecot on a server that relies on vpopmail authentication using $1$ MD5 algorithm and it didn't work. Please fix this for the next release. Hi, First, I'm not sure if dovecot should alter this, but it seems vpopmail writes the IP into the 'remote_ip' field instead of the auth type. Dovecot still writes the auth type.? I want both. So I modified my vpopmail install to write an additional field into the lastauth table.? My custom vpopmail writes the remote IP into remote_ip, and the auth type into a 'type'

The attached patch makes the local IP address to which the client connected available to the authentication modules; i.e., the local IP address is available for substitution as %i for the mysql and pgsql modules. We needed this feature to support thousands of our legacy accounts which are authenticated by username/local_part (not the full email address) and IP address (one per domain). Timo,
