Authentication without password
Hi all,
for one of my developpements, I need to be able to connect an IMAP
server
with a login but without password.
(I use dovecot 1.0.beta3)
For the userdb, I use "userdb static" :
userdb static {
args = uid=114 gid=114 home=/mydev/mail/%u
}
But I don't know how to allow IMAP connection by my application
without password.
I won't connect to a database, having a

Too many links
Hi all,
I've a problem during a big migration to dovecot.
I'm not sure that is a really a dovecot bug ... but maybe somebody
here know
one solution ...
I have more than 150000 imap account to migrate from an obscure mail
system
based on a database to an imap/dovecot system.
During the migration (simple but very long process) I get a "Too many
links" error
from dovecot.

The dovecot.conf was wrong configured and the permissions in the /home

Now we are able to read our mail with outlook and via SquirellMails

Mail.app help
I'm having a problem with Mail.app and imap folders. I've got a new install
of dovecot 1.0beta2, and am only experiencing this problem with Mail. Mutt
works as expected, as well as thunderbird.
When I create a folder using Mail.app, it is written to
~/Maildir/.INBOX.newfolder, which would be fine, if I wasn't telling
everything that I wanted no prefixes. If I move that folder to

Handle Options Method
Hi,
I have an Alteon in test (a sip/rtp load balancer).
This Alteon sends to the asterisk box a "SIP OPTIONS" to know if
asterisk is alive.
However, asterisk sends me a 404 message and not a response like, for
example, a Thomson (200 + SDP)
I wrote a very little script (you can find it at the end of the email)
to send an Options message to asterisk/phones to try.
It works

Dovecot design-question
Hi everybody,
we're currently in the process of drafting our new mailserver-setup.
Instead of a single-server-setup we'd like to have two equal servers
behind a loadbalancer like LVS and shared mailhomes on NFS.
We'd like to use dovecot for POP/IMAP, dovecot-deliver as LDA.
- It's probably the best idea to direct SMTP and POP/IMAP always to
the same server behind the

Replicate shared folders to warm standby host
We like to set up our mail system in two datacenters but the wiki<https://wiki.dovecot.org/Replication> says "Shared folder replication doesn't work correctly..."
I'm thinking about using an external loadbalancer to ensure that only one host will get connections.
Normal operations:
client ==imap=> loadbalancer ==imap=> host1 ==replication=> host2

samba as a file server
I currently have samba 3.0.2 working with ldap as a filer

file server that would handle 50k users. My main concern is
that I want reliability. I would also like to be able to
build horizantally if needed. I was first thing some type
of cluster connecting to a SAN but I would rather do it like
we do our webservices. We have x

little submissions feature request
Hi!
I'm using dovecot for a while now and really like it. Actually dovecot

Debian AMD64.
Now I have to use a cifs mounted maildir directory and found it to be
quite slow,
though I already tuned it a lot. The only way to get it fast was to put
INDEX and
CONTROL files on the local disc and so outside of the maildirs.
Performance is
great but the problem is with submissions to

mongrel limiting amount of connections ?
Hi!
I''ve been using Mongrel in a Rails setup with HAProxy as a loadbalancer.
I used to use Pound, but HAProxy is much more performant and has the
very nice option to limit the amount of requests sent to the backend
servers/processes. In practice, this means that a new incoming request
will not be sent to a Mongrel that''s already busy processing a request.
There''s

Port forwarding from dom0 to bridged domU with IPVS
Hi list,
We, an OSS advocacy group, setup a Xen 3.1 machine composed of :
. a 64 bits dom0 running Debian stable amd64
. 2 hvm domUs running OpenBSD amd64
. 2 hvm domUs running NetBSD i386
This machine is to be hosted and reachable from the Internet, but it will
only have one public IP.
Naturally, our first tought was to port-forward using iptables /
netfilter. We didn''t really

custom routing (two gateways)
Hi all,
i''m having a somewhat stupid problem I can''t get rid of.
we''ve a server that accepts incoming world connections
from a load balancer (10.10.10.4) to port 80,
and we still want to serve incoming ssh/http from the firewall (10.10.10.1)
routed to this host (10.10.10.90) and their reply packets of cause shall be
send out through the firewall.
unfortunately, both
