Startup script
Hi,
Anyone have a nice startup script for /etc/init.d for Fedora, maybe it
could be bundled?

Postfix SMTP AUTH patch updated
There was a small protocol change in later 1.0-test releases which made
the older patches not to work. Updated the patch for Postfix 2.1.5 and
added patch for Postfix 2.2.1. I also tested that it works with Dovecot
1.0-stable releases. So, if you're interested:

Samab and init.d
Is it better to start Samba using in initd, or to use the script, much like
the one provided by SuSE. ?? so far I have used the script, but I don't
like the fact of having to start samba manually. I would much prefer to
see it run as a service. just to confirm all it really involves is starting
smbd and nmbd

Having problem getting Asterisk to work on CentOS 7
Dan - you probably installed the init script (look in /etc/init.d for an
'asterisk' file). Asterisk includes the older init style scripts which are
*compatible* with systemd but you don't have as much control compared to
creating an Asterisk systemd file. (SystemD service files replace InitD
scripts). So that might be part of the solution, but first.
If disabling Selinux allows

SAMBA+LDAP in a Workgroup
Hi,
This may be a dumb question (I'm new with this), but is it possible to use
SAMBA in combination with LDAP in a Workgroup?
All the manuals and examples I can find, are talking about Domains and
PDCs.
I have to set up a new Samba server and checkout LDAP but I'm not allowed
to change the Workgroup settings...
Now we use smbpasswd...
Is LDAP worth the effort and time?

ZAPtel channel dance
Zaptel installs an /etc/modprobe.d/zaptel and an
/etc/{defaults,sysconfig}/zaptel that list the modules in a different
order, so If you happen to have a TDM2400P and a TDM[124]xxP, all channels
change their numbers if you do a /etc/initd/zaptel restart. This is
slightly confusing. (I'd file a bug if there were a bug tracking system
that allowed users to submit bugs).

copy of smbpasswd
Hi,
I have to move our old samba file server to a new machine.
The old samba server was a RedHat8 with samba 2.2.5. The new one is SLES9
with samba 3.0.2b-3.4 SuSE
Is there a way to re-use the old smbpasswd file?
In the log-files I can see that the authentication fails when I try to
access a shared folder.
A windows client keeps on asking the login and password.
Is it possible to re-use

init script as provided http://wiki2.dovecot.org/DovecotInit
Hello list,
I would add:
# dovecot Startup script for the dovecot server
#
# chkconfig: -
# processname: dovecot
# config: /path/to/config
# pidfile: /path/to/pid
So that it supports the chkconfig used by RHEL and clones too.
Also, maybe it should be installed by the Makefile's install target? it
could then also set:
DAEMON=/path/to/dovecot/daemon
instead of:

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default.
I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver.
I have tried a number of things:
1) in my kickstart package section add the line:
-xorg-x11-drv-nouveau
This did not work - it was still installed.
2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file
to blacklist
the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

Having problem getting Asterisk to work on CentOS 7
The history of the question is lost (in the mail thread) so I'll jump in
based on what I could see in my recent mail and the subject line:
- The ASTDB should have no impact on Asterisk service start (which I
assume is the problem given the subject line)
- If you disabled SElinux then that's not the problem in starting

puppet standlone hanging when ran via init.d
Hi,
I''ve just changed my debian preseed configuration to install the debian
unstable package of puppet v0.22.1. As part of the preseed I have a late
command that clobbers the /etc/init.d/puppet file into using the puppet
standalone program and not the puppetd (as this is what I''m using). Since
the upgrade to 0.22.1 every boot hangs during the initd. Going into
standalone mode
