Postfix with Deliver (LDA) - user unknown
Good Day All! I am attempting to configure deliver as our LDA. I am also configuring the server to use Postfix instead of Sendmail. I have followed the all the documentation and examples I could find. Below are my Dovecot and Postfix configs. Can someone please smack me upside the head and tell me why I am getting "user unknown" errors? If i don't use deliver as the LDA, all

Unsuccessful POP sessions on dovecot-1.0.3-13_60
A Client runs a RAS network. Users access mailboxes using Outlook Express. The server runs dovecot-1.0.3-13_60. Almost a week ago users began to report that they can't retrieve their mail. The session starts, they seem to retrieve messages, but then the client reports a problem and the session is terminated. Here's what I have in the log: May 28 08:56:46 server dovecot: pop3-login:

Urgent problem: Dovecot fetches the same mails multiple times per POP
I have a problem since a couple of hours: I manage several mboxes on a virtual server using Dovecot (over POP3). Until a few hours ago, it worked well, but since 11:50, the e-mail clients which access Dovecot's mailboxes, receive all e-mails new each time the mailbox is queried. For example: 15:40 fetches 22 new mails 15:41 fetches the same 22 mails again as new 15:42 fetches the same 22

High Load average on NFS Spool - v.2.1.15 & 2.2.13
I have two servers pointing to an NFS mounted mail spool with dovecot.? Since I recently switched from using Dovecot v1.X, I have been experiencing high CPU use with the two Dovecot servers. I am not certain why they are not well behaved.? Here is the configuration information. This configuration is currently running at a load average of 17. /usr/sbin/dovecot -n # 2.1.15:

IMAP Dovecot unknown namespace creating root folders
Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction here. I am migrating a mailbox from a non cPanel server, and the mailboxes have folders which seem to be at the same level as the Inbox. The users access these mailboxes using IMAP. The new server configuration is Exim > Dovecot 1.2.17 > Maildir with the standard cPanel install settings. dovecot -n output below I have created the new

Bug? auth(default) Authentication client gave a PID of existing connection
Hello, My first time on this list, just switched from courier imap/pop3 system to dovecot. Imap part is great, pop3 seems to suffer, been fighting it for a week. Anyway, the reason for this post is that I have seen these pop up in my logs, and on one of my mailheads there were some 50 lines of this dovecot: 2008-10-26 09:33:54 Error: auth(default): BUG: Authentication client gave a PID 15661 of

POP Question
After upgrading to Alpha 4 I have two people complaining about a POP problem. Aparently they are getting their email sent to them over and over. They have it set to "leave messages on server" but apparently whatever keeps track of that is broken. So - how is it determined with POP what is new and what is read?

logging beg - again
Hello, [Old problem; if it was fixed, I cannot see it (checked Changelog, wiki, source, as much as my grepping counts). Any help appreciated.] I have been begging since 2003 to be able to trash qpopper and use dovecot, but statistical logging of dovecot has been pretty much absent. Qpopper does this: Aug 19 11:18:02 mail in.qpopper[8099]: Stats: userid 0 0 12 51773 user.example.com

spamc can't seem to call /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver
Hi, My server uses a system comprised of postfix, dovecot and dspam to filter and deliver mail. Postfix used the following flags in calling spamc and dovecot: flags=DRhu user=dovecot:secmail argv=/usr/bin/spamc -u ${recipient} -e /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d ${recipient} after an upgrade from Debian lenny to squeeze we were able to get everything working except spam filtering. Hello. Typical log text - top=0/0, retr=0/ del=0/0, size=0 I can figure out what means retr=0/ del=0/0, size=0, but what about top=0/0? It's static data, haven't seen any others numbers, than zeros there? -- Sysadmin

Postfix, Dovecot SASL and Entourage smtps authentication fails.
Tere. Recently just migrated from Sendmail 8.14.3 to Postfix 2.5.6 and switched from Cyrus-sasl 2.1.22 to Dovecot 1.1.13 sasl, all are compiled from source and I have used Dovecot for a long time, since alpha versions. Everything worked well for Outlook Express, Outlook and Thunderbird clients, but Microsoft Entourage 2004 or 2008 clients smtps fails - "Authentication failed because

Segfault when using multiple servers
Should it be possible to run multiple dovecot servers on the same mailboxes (Maildir in my case)? I've a setup where 2 dovecot 0.99.13 servers write to the same mailboxes, which dovecot apparently does not like too much. Example (using imap): - Login with mail client on server1 - Login with webmail on server2 - Delete a mail using webmail on server2 - Hit send/receive in the mail client

Effects of going read-only on dovecot & pop/imap clients
Hi all, We need to set our filestore to read-only for quite a while, and I want to mitigate the effects for our clients. First issue; dovecot. If we just change the nfs mounts to read-only, dovecot complains: 2009-02-19T14:03:19+00:00 mail2 dovecot: pop3-login: Login: user=<test2 at markandruth.co.uk>, method=PLAIN, rip=10.15.10.95, lip=10.15.10.102:11002 2009-02-19T14:03:19+00:00 mail2
