maildir locking and 'racing'
hello Timo, list,
quick error-message question. A few of the accounts on my main
mailserver are failing to log in with errors like this:
dovecot: Mar 02 19:33:35 Error: imap(user at example.com):
maildir_file_do(/var/lib/vpopmail/domains/example.com/user/Maildir)

if I log in by telnet everything is fine, and from the source it
looks like the error happens when dovecot fails to

Dovecot default inbox name?
I'm installing dovecot and migrating from mbox to maildir. I've read
several articles concerning this process but I can't seem to find the
answer to one particular question. What is the default name of the
inbox when using maildir format? I need to create this in advance for
each user and I don't know what dovecot is expecting for the inbox
directory name.

Did a quick-n-dirty install of 1.1.alpha2 on a Fedora Core 6 server... am
getting the following message in the maillog, though there seems to be no
problem accessing mail. Error seems to be consistent for all users.
Running 1.0.3 on the system previously.

i read that it support qmail Maildir, i use postfix, but read on
postfix site that postfix Maildir are compatible with qmail.
so i have something like

i tried a simple setup to 'test'
auth_userdb = static uid=500 gid=500 home=/var/mail/vhosts/%d/%n
auth_passdb = passwd-file

dovecot-1.2.6: Panic: pool_data_stack_realloc(): stack frame changed
When playing with large numbers of IMAP keywords on dovecot-1.2.6 imap
crashed:
Panic: pool_data_stack_realloc(): stack frame changed
Looks like either maildir_file_do() shouldn't T_BEGIN/T_END or the
keywords array should start larger.

Possible bug in authentication cache in dovecot 1.1.alpha4
Hello,
it seems that there is some bug in authentication cache code in dovecot
version 1.1.alpha4 - after login attempt with wrong password the correct
password also will fail.
I can reproduce it very easy:
$telnet 10.10.10.30 110
+OK Server. <861.2.46e6c679.jZ8QYpFmU8ZN6XIq7zPhkw==@server2>
user testuser
+OK
pass pass
+OK Logged in.
quit
+OK Logging out.
Connection closed by foreign host.

idmap_ad and RFC2370 (inconsistent results)
Hi everyone.
I'm encountering problems with the management of the id of the users,
in the DC and in the domain members (RFC2370).
I'm using Samba Version 4.2.10-Debian on Debian8.5.
This is the DC configuration / result.

Home-Shares are not writeable
Hello everyone!
After running Samba on several machines for some years, I just came
accross a rather strange problem. The short story is that the special
user home shares are readable, but not writeable.
Here's the long story: The system is a freshly set-up Debian Squeeze,
right out of the box. This is the Samba config:

Winbindd and SSH (just disconnects after login)
It looks like I've gotten the majority of things working in regards to
Winbind. Users are being authenticated by the NT4 PDC when connecting to
shares, but I can't seem to get things set up correctly to allow logging in
via SSH(OpenSSH_3.6.1p2, SSH protocols 1.5/2.0, OpenSSL 0x0090702f). It
appears as though I'm successfully authenticated by the PDC, but then the

Dovecot and the Maildir path
System basics
??? Centos 7.3
??? Dovecot 2.2.32 (dfbe293d4)
I am working on a replacement mail server for work and one of the features I wanted was ldap authentication
After much fiddling I got it to work.
But I encountered a issue where two different methods of testing a mail account resulted in the
mail_location being different
I set? mail_location = maildir:/var/spool/maildir/%d/%n/Maildir
