Failed authentication to a mysql database (bug or PEBKAC?)
Hello, I'm trying to setup a mailserver running postfix and dovecot with mysql as database backend. Postfix is already running and delivers mails just fine. Unfortunately, dovecot has great problems connecting to the database (using username + password). If I disable the password, everthing works fine. But, thats harakiri, security wise ;-) I tried dovecot-1.0-stable and the latest

Dovecot.1.0.alpha1+mysql+mysql
Hi, we are trying to track down the problem that prevents two mysql password databases from working. Instead of connecting to each database, it looks like dovecot tries to connect *twice* to the second specified. Do do this we just inserted some i_warning()s in the code. We noticed that passdb_sql_init (auth/passdb-sql.c) is called twice, once per configuration file, with the correct argument

your close.... :) from the icecast2 documentation : http://192.168.1.10:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/mystream&mode=updinfo&song=ACDC+Back+In+Black o change your action parameter to mode and you'll be all set... and FYI, Missing parameter is a general message which means, "I was expecting you to pass in a variable into the admin request (mode in this case) but you did

Update Metadata Failed
Hi everyone, I would like to update metadata by using this request: http://server:port/admin/metadata?mount=/foo.ogg&action=updinfo&song=New+Metadata, but when I send the request, icecast returns an error: "Missing parameter" and metadata doesn't change. This is error.log: [2004-01-21 12:20:32] DBUG

Re: Sum-up: Re-proposal: web forums
Hello, I have noted below problems that we can take care of, and those that aren't our problem, never were, never will be, impossible to be our problem, (you get the picture), because they are PEBKAC errors :) For all of those that don't know: PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair. IPP2P broken?
Hi, I tried shorewall 2.2.0-rc4 and 2.2.0-rc5 on 3 different machines (just to be sure it''s not pebkac). The IPP2P support is broken, line like: DROP loc net ipp2p generates: iptables -A loc2net -j DROP that''s _wrong_ :) i have tried playing with debug to no avail, and I''m not that good at bashing... just to be complete, the suggested status.txt from one of the

fixtures in before(:all)
I was planning on using a fixture within a description that didn''t modify the fixture, so I put it in a before(:all) block: describe "Customer", "xml" do fixtures :customers before(:all) do one = customers(:one) end # ... As a result, I got this message: 1) NoMethodError in ''Customer xml before(:all)'' You have a nil object when you

Hi list, I can install the default ppp-2.4.4-2, but when I try to install an rpm I built from Sangoma's ppp-2.4.4.5 (using checkinstall-1.6.1) I get this error: # rpm -ivh ppp.2.4.4.5-1.eai.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: ppp < 2.4.3-3 conflicts with kernel-2.6.18-162.2.1.el5.i686 Isn't 2.4.4.5 > 2.4.3-3 ??? trying this: yum localinstall ppp.2.4.4.5-1.eai.i386.rpm

vpopmail oddities
vpopmail + qmail + dovecot + thunderbird = huge headache ;-) alright, when attempting to connect via imaps to my .maildir based vpopmail install, $user@$domain is having some problems. /var/vpopmail/domains/$domain/$user is the location of the user folders with vpopmail and yet dovecot isn't exactly passing on the domain :-\ i'm not sure if this is a pebkac issue or if it's the root

Logging options
Hi, is it possible to configure dovecot's logging so it logs stuff like "User x logged in from IP/Host y and had z new messages" like I'm used from qpopper? That immensely helps when debugging PEBKAC issues. Enabling auth_verbose isnt really helpfull since a failed login generates 4 lines, some even without a pid - so it's a bit hard guessing which log entry belongs to

vfs_fruit works great on OS X 10.9.5, 10.10.3 notsomuch
Hi Ralph, Ok, the problem was a PEBKAC issue. :-) Sorry to waste your time. In troubleshooting this earlier, I'd created the file "nsmb.conf" in my user Library directory with the following contents: [default] smb_neg=smb1_only In earlier troubleshooting, some folks suggested that might help the situation. It didn't, and I'd forgotten to remove it. I've removed it

Problems connecting source
Hi Max, > I can connect to the server but when I start sending bytes (when > I start playing music), the source disconnects suddenly... That sounds pretty like something in the config of oddcast got wrong. It seems to be the behaviour that Oddcast won't notify you it got disconnected before you send anything to the server. > It was working fine yesterday night and I didn't

blind transfer dumping calls
I am using asterisk 1.4.10 and seem to be having a problem with blind transfer. This could very well be a pebkac problem but I'm not sure. A call comes in on a Zap channel and answered just find by a context that does a Goto which calls a macro (seems convoluted now that I look at it) to do some CID bookkeeping but that ultimately dials all of the phones interested in calls from the Zap

txfax (app_txfax) sending issue
Hi All, With spandsp.0.0.2 pre20 installed I can't seem to send faxes with tx_fax over a Zap channel (POTS). rx_fax works just fine so no issues with libtiff and (presumably) libxml2. Basically I get 'slow carrier up' and 'slow carrier down' together with accompanying beeping noises until tx_fax times out and hangs up. This could quite possibly be a PEBKAC or n00b

Remodified Asterisk brute force blockers..
Top of the morning all... So I reworked the pseudo IDS/Brute Force Asterisk script for those who want to either use it, or use it as a baseline to build a better one... The script now does a few things... It logs those with password issues, and blocks them as well. This was done to ensure that a remote user who was blocked can be found in the log. E.g., Sally the homemaker keeps fiddling
