Problem with AUTH causes serverside lockup
Hello all,
I am running Dovecot alpha1, and after about 24 hours of the server
working fine, it starts to lock up when I open Thunderbird to check mail.
Basically I can see new mail, but when I click it, it just hangs at
"Loading message...".
I get the following in my maillog:

v1.2.alpha1 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/alpha/dovecot-1.2.alpha1.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/1.2/alpha/dovecot-1.2.alpha1.tar.gz.sig
This is the only v1.2.alpha announcement I'm going to send to
dovecot-news list. Next announcement will be for either v1.2.beta1 or
v1.2.rc1.
I'm hoping that v1.2 stabilizes pretty soon. There are no huge changes
like there were in 0.99->1.0 or

v2.0.alpha1 released
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/alpha/dovecot-2.0.alpha1.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/alpha/dovecot-2.0.alpha1.tar.gz.sig
So here's the first alpha version of Dovecot v2.0. There are still a
couple of things left to do, but in general it should work for most
people. I started using it for my own mails a few days ago and it seems
to work without errors.

http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/alpha/dovecot-2.1.alpha1.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.1/alpha/dovecot-2.1.alpha1.tar.gz.sig
So it's time for the first alpha version of Dovecot v2.1. There are no
huge intrusive changes, so I expect v2.1.0 to be released this year
(maybe even in a few months?)
The biggest changes are related to full text search handling. I'll

Dovecot-LDA & OpenBSD
I?m having a bit of a problem with compiling dovecot-lda on OpenBSD. I
used information from wiki.dovecot.org but this, unfortunately, resulted
in some errors.
Am I missing something?

Sig11 and some corrupted indexes after 1.0-stable -> 1.0.alpha1
I just upgraded my production box from 1.0-stable to 1.0.alpha1. I've

1.0.alpha1: Namespaces
Hi,
I'm currently using 1.0.alpha1 without luck regarding a namespace
issue. Maybe it's a general understanding problem on my side, but
let's see :-)
I would like to have my mail stored in Maildir format below
~/.maildir/, which works fine so far.
I want any (sub)folders to be created like this:
~/.maildir/
/cur
/new
/tmp
/.Folder/
/cur
/new
/tmp

Do index files need removing when upgrading 1.0-stable to 1.0-alpha1 or later?
Hi Timo,
Just a quick question: do index files still need removing when upgrading
from 1.0-stable (as in the testXX series) or will Dovecot regenerate
them automatically?
I'm expecting to go with 1.0-stable on Tuesday for my 20,000 users (as
that's what I've been testing), but if we see lots of index issues, I
may want to upgrade to alpha1 (or later) fairly soon afterwards and it

Is Alpha2 slower than Alpha1?
I changed servers at the same time as changing from Alpha1 to Alpha2 but
I'm on a faster server so it should be faster. But it seems slower
especially deleting server side messages. Using mbox .

Error: Boot loader didn't return any data [pygrub boot debian wheezy alpha1 netinst ISO]
Note: I could simply direct boot the appropriate kernel/initrd to get
the alpha1 installation going as always done in the past, but I think
this should work. The Debian alpha 1 installer page says it should.

Weird internaldate behavior with 1.0-test80 and mbox folder
Has anyone else encountered weird date behavior with mbox-style folders?
I am nearly ready to bite the bullet and convert my UW imap hierarchy
(which is in mbx format) to Dovecot. In so doing, I need to convert each
UW-specific mbx-format mailboxes to the more portable mbox format, which
Dovecot can read. (This is done with the 'mbxcvt' utility that's part of
UW.)
I am then

Logging options
Hi,
is it possible to configure dovecot's logging so it logs stuff like
"User x logged in from IP/Host y and had z new messages" like I'm used
from qpopper?
That immensely helps when debugging PEBKAC issues.
Enabling auth_verbose isnt really helpfull since a failed login
generates 4 lines, some even without a pid - so it's a bit hard guessing
which log entry belongs to

a few questions about my experience with alpha1
Hi all,
I've just switched from 0.99.10.6 to alpha1 on a Solaris 9 system,
and I have a few questions:
1) I'm using "verbose_proctitle = yes" but I don't see the special
username or IP address information in the output of ps. I've used:
ps -fu dovecot
ps -ef | grep dovecot
/usr/ucb/ps aux | grep dovecot
The process table simply shows the /usr/local/sbin/dovecot,
