Double Emails
Hi all,
I originally posted this on postfix's mailing list but then realized
that this COULD be a pop3 server problem since that downloads and
deletes mail. This has only been happening since I upgraded from .99 to
1.0-7 ...
Our users have been reporting double messages in their inbox, as well as
emails that they deleted a long time ago reappearing. The only thing in
my maillog is a

1.0-stable update
Just a note, I backported some larger mbox changes from 1.0-test67.
Hopefully works, but if you're going to try it test it well first :)
Should fix some issues related to X-IMAP/X-IMAPbase header handling and
maybe some other mbox related problems as well.

according to Wikipedia). Maybe it'll bring luck to the release. :)

1.0-test78
http://dovecot.org/test/
Fixes:
- Crashes in non-x86 64bit systems
- Bugs in cache file header caching (you probably should delete all
dovecot.index.cache files to be sure the bug won't haunt you in future)
- FETCH ENVELOPE patch by Chris Wakelin (I'll try to figure out what
to do with the list patch later)
Known bugs left:

Another minor IMAP LIST issue
I've just noticed that Dovecot 1.0-stable and 1.0-test78 don't include
mbox folders with names beginning with "." in the IMAP LIST output.
These are often used to store "hidden" folders for storing things like
IMAP client configuration (e.g. Pine 4.x, IMHO, Prayer). Usually the
user shouldn't be able to see these, but there are occassions when they
might. It seems

Fwd: Weird problem opening mbox in beta1/2
Hmm, this is peculiar!
This mailbox has been unchanged on my test server since September. I've
been using it to test each new version of Dovecot just after I've
compiled it.
When beta1 was released, I opened this mbox with no problems. However,
when I upgraded to beta2, I got "file size unexpectedly shrinked in mbox
file /export/mail/a/24/vis99003/INBOX (16895967 vs 16899267)".

PERMANENTFLAGS bug?
Hi,
Im new to the list, so might be a FAQ allthough I havent found it anywhere:
When I try to connect to dovecot/imap from snappermail (palm), I get a
IMAP protocol error.
The complaint is about:
OK [PERMANENTFLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Seen \Draft ) \*)] Flags
permitted.
As you can see, theres an extra " )" after "Draft".
Any clues on how to fix/bypass this?

dovecot mbox to dovecot maildir migration
Hi,
I'm migrating accounts from one server with dovecot mbox and pam
nss-ldap authentication to a new server with dovecot maildir and mysql
auth (no posix accounts).
My problem is the pop3 uidl format on the two servers are different,
even though I'm using pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv in both configs,
I'm always re-downloading left messages on my test runs. Is there a
way I could

Can't connect to auth server at default: Connection refused
We've being running with Dovecot 1.0-stable since Tuesday, and on the
whole it's gone very well (meaning nobody's noticed!). My best estimate
is we're using half the disk accesses and 2/3 the CPU of UW-IMAP/Qpopper.
We've quite a mixture of error messages in the logs, the most worrying
of which is that several times we've had a few seconds of "xxx-login:

1.0-test67
http://dovecot.org/test/
Hopefully better release than last one. Fixes several problems test66
had and also some older problems reported in this list.
It also contains a pretty large mbox code cleanup, fixing several
problems (especially related to X-IMAP/X-IMAPbase headers) and making it
a bit faster. Maybe I'll backport it to 1.0-stable too when it looks
like it's stable..
BTW. mbox

Experience moving mailboxes from Dovecot 0.99.14 to Dovecot 1.07 => Improvement possible
Hi,
This small mail to share my observation about a recent move of mailboxes
between two servers and ask about explanation and/or improvement about UIDL
in dovecot.

does dovecot interpret any mail headers specially with maildir?
Hi.
For mbox,
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/mbox#Dovecot.27s_Metadata lists a
numer of mail headers:
- X-IMAPbase
- X-IMAP
- X-UID
- Status
- X-Status
- X-Keywords
- Content-Length
that are treated specially by dovecot.
It also suggests, that these should be stripped by the LDA (I guess in
order that someone sending you such mail cannot set the status or
keywords, or even "attack

Thought I'd still make one 0.99.10.x release now that mbox corruption
problems are (hopefully) fixed.
Please test, if no problems are found this will be the final 0.99.10.5.

I grabbed a bunch of Mailman archive files from the Weather mailing list

I gunzipped the older ones, then concatenated them all in correct order to

Read-only mail folders
Is it possible to have folders on read-only partitions in Dovecot
1.0-stable?
We have a NetApp fileserver which would probably be accessed via NFS
(though iSCSI is possible) and which stores readonly "snapshots" of
every directory accessible as .snapshot (but usually hidden from the
operating system). It would be very nice to set up a "snapshot"
namespace something like
