Patch to Set RFC2307 attributes in samba-tool create user <username> --uid-number=501
I'm using sernet samba 4.0.11 on Centos 6 and don't see the capabilities to add some of the RFC2307 attributes that make Linux UID/GID mapping easier in the sernet version of the samba-tool. The patch is mentioned on this list last year under: https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2012-September/169300.html Some threads on the net refer to this capability found in newer versions of samba

Asterisk registers but won't complete calls.
Hello, I work for a company that is experimenting with the implementation of Asterisk. We have a VoIP provider that is giving us a demo account with 200 minutes on it. We can register with their service but cannot complete calls with Asterisk. We can use a Grandstream GXP-2000 with the supplied registration info and it does work. linux 2.4 vs 2.6 kernel
hi I read ( I think in dovecot wiki) that ext2 or ext3 fs on a 2.4 kernel can get slow due to the number of files in a directory. Does anyone know if kernel 2.6 has similar limitation? I'm not at that point now, but before the box goes live, I'm wondering if I should resolve that. Glenn

getent passwd & getent group returning UID and GID using Winbind 4.1.x series samba
Just to make sure that I'm on the right path to get this working the way I would like. I have a linux file server that has used LDAP the user and group information in the past. I would like to migrate (recreate) the same users and groups in the samba4 AD DC, adding the UID and GID attributes. So that I don't have to change the UID and GID permissions on the file servers. The migration

Your trying to use kerbereros usersname. wbinfo -a marcio at EMPRESA.COM.BR Enter marcio at EMPRESA.COM.BR's password: And you using: winbind use default domain = yes This is and old bug somewhere in 4.5/4/6 i believe. Only change these, yes only slows down you

Winbind issues
Several questions really (all on the stable 2.2.2 samba compiled with winbind and acls (and Brandon Stone's recycle bin), with a 2.4.14 kernel along with acls from acl.bestbits.at on a RedHat 7.2 box)... 1) Does anyone know how to stop the security event log on an NT PDC filling up with lots of ANONYMOUS accesses to the Security Account Manager eg: Object Open: Object Server: Security
