mbox slowness in dovecot-1.0-test61
Hi, We're trying out Dovecot to see if it's a good replacement for UW-imapd. It seems to be very slow in opening an mbox file, even after it's been indexed. (I mean way slower than UW) Here's some info on the system: Dovecot-1.0-test61 SuSE 8.1, Linux kernel 2.4 Using NFS to access mail. I've tried turning off mmap, using dotlocking, using fcntl locking (lockd, etc. are

Hi: I?m sorry I didn?t answer before, but I just couldn?t, I was too busy at my job. Tom, I did as you suggest me but it was a surprise, I don?t have acccess to that web site!! I was not prompted for a password or any thing alike but it was prohibited from my server. Nevertheless my workstation could do it. I know you might be wondering: how come, but it?s simple. I have a RedHat server

Documentation Licence question.
i can't find licence information for the following files: http://hostopia.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba3-HOWTO.pdf http://hostopia.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba3-ByExample.pdf As you see, they are two basic samba information sources, and I need to know if I can just print it and leave in computer lab for all who wish to avoid reading it from monitor. It is about 1300 pages total, so I need to make

Asserion Failure in Current CVS
Just installed the version from CVS as of Oct. 27. I noticed three problems quite quickly: Still seeing "(imap) killed with signal 14" My INBOX closed with "access error" after reading it for a bit. There's nothing in the logs or anything, but this hasn't happened for quite a while now. There where quite a lot of incoming messages at the time and I was marking

Headers "missing" in new CVS version
We're experiencing an odd problem with dovecot "losing" headers. This started happening with the CVS release as of July 4 and still happens with July 12. It was working properly June 28. It does not happen using pine or thunderbird. It happens using webmail (twig). When you open the inbox, you see subject, etc. When you open a mail, all of the headers are gone. Returning to the

Segfault in imap process
We've been testing dovecot for a while and I noticed yesterday that imap crashes quite often. It seems to be about even with SIGABRT and SIGSEGV. This one was SIGSEGV. Our system is SuSE Linux 9.2, 2.6.11.5 kernel (also happened with an older 2.6 kernel). Dovecot version is 1.0-test64 and was compiled with: "./configure --prefix=/services/dovecot --disable-ipv6" It's using

Trying to allocate 0 bytes in index-mail-headers.c
Here's a new one. It just started with the latest (April 8) CVS version. In index-mail-headers.c, line 622: fields = t_new(struct mail_cache_field, count); count is 0 I'm seeing this with several mailboxes. We're using mbox. Here's the error message and backtrace. dovecot: Apr 09 10:53:18 Error: 3348 IMAP(chairman): Trying to allocate 0 bytes dovecot: Apr 09

imap segfault in mail-cache.c
Found an imap crash. I'm using the CVS copy from March 23. This is running under Linux, kernel 2.6.11.something. We use mbox over NFS, everything is on the NFS server. There is currently only one dovecot server accessing the mailbox. Here's the log messages: dovecot: Apr 05 13:11:20 Error: 27911 IMAP(support): UIDVALIDITY changed (1112720886 -> 1112721068) in mbox file

Assertion Failure in mbox-sync.c
I've been getting a few of these errors on a couple different mboxes. This is using the CVS version as of May 14. So far, these are the only errors and it looks like most/all of the older ones are gone. How to find RTP address of ongoing call?
Hi list, probably this is a FAQ but I can't seem to find it. How to find the RTP IP address of an ongoing SIP call? "sip show channels" seems to list the RTP address under the very left column called "Peer". And it also lists the associated "Call ID" which I could associate with a call by executing sip show channel <Call ID> and before figuring out the

Programming ....
Hi, I am building my own TCP daemon for easing some routine admin stuff... I am no expert on security,. I would really appreciate it if someone sent me some pointers to writing TCP daemons that are hacker-proof( i know there is nothing like that...but I do not want to be making mistakes in coding that are well known.. ;) The daemon runs as root....so that is why I am woried.... Thx, Arni
