yet another update of the Dovecot AUTH patch: 20051208
Wietse won't sit still ... removal of the lmtp(8) client broke the
previous issue of the revised Dovecot AUTH patch. So I just redid it
for the 20051208 snapshot:

I need sleep (dovecot auth / postfix 2.3)
I need the new sleep feature (smtpd_*_restrictions) of Postfix 2.3
snapshots, but I'm using the Dovecot auth patch. The 2.2.1 patch had
problems in the snapshots I tried.
Fortunately the problems were very simple.

Dovecot auth patch updated for Postfix 2.3-20051121
Once again I have updated Timo's auth patch for Postfix 2.2.1 to work
with a 2.3 snapshot. It applied cleanly and compiled and is running for
me, but is not really tested.
This is Timo's code, not mine. All I did was manually edit in the
rejects from the old patch. Find it here if you're interested:

dovecot-SASL for Postfix: EXTERNAL does not work.
Hello and good evening.
Sorry for responding so late, it is midsummer and i spend as much
time as possible on the outside (bicycle, mostly). (Just one more
day, then 10 degrees colder!!)
I Cc: Wietse Venema, because i quote a message of him.
(this is "set quote-add-cc" here.)

ext3 and chattr +S on postfix spools
Postfix <http://www.postfix.org> does a chattr +S on its spool directory
when it is installed on Linux.
This is what is written in the postfix startup script

#
# LINUX by default does not synchronously update directories -
# that's dangerous for mail.
#
if [ -f /usr/bin/chattr ]
then
CHATTR="/usr/bin/chattr +S"
else

Is this still required on ext3 ?

dovecot-SASL for Postfix: EXTERNAL does not work.
Hello.
I am not subscribed and new here, so first of all i want to thank
you for dovecot. I personally do not use it in "production"
(yet), but it is my sole point of interaction for testing the
little MUA i maintain for quite some years. I also have used its
code for affirmation purposes. (Interesting that OAUTHBEARER
treats hostname and port as optional. I currently do

[wietse@porcupine.org: Re: syncronous directory operation for linux (ext2)]
There's a big thread about filesystems on postfix-users@postfix.org
Could you shed some light on that issue?

postfix 2.3 SMTP AUTH and Outlook
Hi all,
I just maked $SUBJECT to run. The main problem was, that in Dovecot are
by default enabled only plain digest-md5 and cram-md5 authentication
mechanisms. While MS Outlook knows only "LOGIN" mechanism. So, Outlook
users wasn't able to use SMTP AUTH.
The solution is to change a line in dovecot.conf:
mechanisms = plain digest-md5 cram-md5
to:
mechanisms = plain digest-md5

Dovecot using authsasld
Hi,
Trying to simplify the postfix/dovecot/saslauthd setup with less than 10
users, I was looking for some way to NOT duplicate the username/password
setup.
Currently I need to use a seperate file for dovecot as I do for saslauthd.
(One is a simple shadow-alike file, the other the sasldb)
I know that postfix 2.3 can use dovecot directly for sasl authentication,
and that would be a neat

In response to my request for postfix to support dovecot auth arguments I got
the forwarded reply.
If someone gets around to this before me I won't be offended.

zlib_save per-user or per-mailbox?
We'd like to be able to activate zlib_save per-user or per-mailbox,
but it seems to be global, all or nothing. Search of this list
revealed a comment from Timo in 2012:
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2012-March/064909.html
where he was thinking that compression per-namespace would be a
worthy feature. Was that done?
I'm in the process of replacing a 2.0 system with 2.2 EE. The

Case-insensitive "detail" mailboxes?
We're using sieve with LMTP. We want to have lda_mailbox_autocreate
and lmtp_save_to_detail_mailbox. Is there a way to make the "detail"
case-insensitive? If so I have not found it yet.
I suppose we could lowercase the input string for the SQL userdb
query, but that's not what is wanted. The idea being that if a user
makes a mailbox called "Test" is that user+test

Dovecot LDA/LMTP vs postfix virtual delivery agent and the x-original-to header
I'm resurrecting this again because I'm getting pretty close to possibly
being ready to install a brand new dovecot server (finally), but I still
need for dovecots LMTP to add the x-original-to header.
So... was this completed quietly, or is support for it still not there?
Thanks,
Charles

Can Logon & Join NT4-style Domain, Can't Change Password
Hello Bill,
We have the same problems with our users. After some recent updates they
are unable to change there passwords. We have many networks at different
locations and more and more reports are starting to come in now.
We are using:
centos 6.8
kernel: 2.6.32.-642.1.1.el6.x86_64
smbd -V: 3.6.23-25.el6_7
I noticed Windows 10 enterprise machines are not affected yet.
I am sorry if my post was
