help for creating sendmail virtual users
hey friends,
I have installed sendmail or it would rather say it comes default with the
centos. I am using Centos4.0 and I am trying to configure sendmail
with virtual users.
I have created few users for my domain. My internal domain (example.com) is
different from my isp domain (example1.com).
The problem I am facing is that if the user1 at example1.com sends the mail to

Sendmail and Dovecot Delivery to Virtual Users
I'm new to dovecot and sendmail and my server doesn't forward mails to
'dovecot deliver' at all.
I was reading http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Sendmail and this
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2009-June/040353.html from the mailling
list but I could figure it out myself. I someone could point me into the
right direction.
I'm confused with the config for LDA. Basically what I

Getting default uid/gid of users via socket for virtual user support for sendmail
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I'm trying to make my life easier with sendmail and virtual users. For
that I'd like to pass sendmail the home directory and uid/gid for each
user. The user data is storred in a LDAP,& I retrieve it from the
auth-userdb socket fine.
If I add uid / gid to each user, I get them via that socket as well, but
is there a way I get the

Deliver, sendmail, virtual users, and catch-all addresses
I have spent a long time looking into this and can't find the answer
I'm looking for, so I'm asking here. I'm cutting the example down to
just the bare minimums. This is NOT my actual configuration, but is
sufficient for asking this question:
How can I use dovecot's deliver LDA to deliver to virtual users, but
then have unknown virtual users fall back to catch-all

dspam+sendmail+virtual users
I want to setup something like this...
Sendmail MTA -> DSPAM -> LDA/Dovecot
Can someone give me some sendmail.mc configuration examples on how I
can set this up? I was having trouble getting sendmail to deliver to
dspam and then to dovecot's deliver.
Thanks
PS: I am not using the IMAP DSPAM integratation libs (yet)... I am
using 1.1. When will 1.1 of this come out?

Sendmail with exchange
I am using Asterisk to send Voicemail out as Email. I am running into a
problem I believe to be caused by the exchange server requiring SMTP
authentication. I cannot get the sys admin's to turn it off. Does anyone
know enough about sendmail to help me. I am assuming that the default
mail client is sendmail. It will also send to other non-SMTP
authenticated servers. Your help is much

Dovecot Virtual Users & Sendmail
Not directly Dovecot, but a configuration problem.
We have a working set-up with Dovecot+Procmail+Sendmail, using
POP-before-SMTP. We want to be able to offer email accounts to some
local schools, using SquirrelMail (keeps their costs & maintenance
down). The whole arrangement is working, but we don't want to have to
have 300+ School children as users of our

New Fedora/Sendmail Install Assistance
Hello everyone,
I've narrowed down my problem, so this should be an easy one for some smart
person out there.
I am moving from an old sendmail/Fedora 2 box to a new sendmail/Fedora 4 box
and want to try Dovecot for pop3. The problem is, I can't get it to work.
I have 9000 email accounts I will be moving to the new box. I've already
tried and failed once. The problem is, Dovecot

sendmail + dovecot + vpopmail + virtual users, problem with pop3 uidl
Hi,
I just migrated a server running qmail+vpopmail+maildir to
sendmail+dovecot+maildir+vpopmail
The migrating is working great thanks to the help from the list and the
wiki.
I'm now running the infamous problem about duplicating emails, because
of pop3 UIDL mismatch.
My question is: anyone knows that the pop3_uidl_format string for
a vpopmail server?
I'm using vpopmail auth and

Unable to get virtual users set up with database auth
I can't seem to get imap virtual users to work with database
authentication on new Scientific Linux 6.5 server with Sendmail 8.14.4 &
Dovecot 2.0.9
Apparently I have to also create system users because
sendmail/procmail/dovecot want to check directory ownership.
So I created a database, made entry for the user, created the user
chayes on the system.
But %u always contains just chayes

configuring sendmail to work with dovecot+LDAP
I would like to setup dovecot (1.1.20) with LDAP virtual users,
but I don't seem to understand how to get my sendmail to accept
mail for the virtual users.
(I am rather new to this, so I may have some misunderstandings)
I have followed - wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/DovecotOpenLdap
(OpenLDAP 2.3.43)
and I think I have IMAP working for virtual users.
I can connect to port 143, enter a username and

Dovecot Virtual Users with Sendmail
I'm trying to get Dovecot working with Virtual Users and Sendmail on OpenIndiana 151a7. OpenIndiana is the Open Source continuation of OpenSolaris after Oracle tried to kill it off a couple of years ago shortly after acquiring Sun Microsystems.
I'm not sure if this is so much a Dovecot problem, as much of a Sendmail problem. I thought this would probably be a better list to start with,

Postfix sendmail cannot be called from Sieve redirect
Sending (in my case: forwarding) messages from Sieve via sendmail does not
work with version 2.3.1.
I have narrowed it down to this simple test case:
# dovecot -n
# 2.3.1 (c5a5c0c82): /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf
# OS: Linux 4.4.0-119-generic x86_64 Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS
# Hostname: tuxi.topfen.net

first_valid_uid = 200
