IMAP EXPUNGE disconnect/box hang - Fedora Core 2, Squirrelmail and Evolution
I'm a bit befuddled by this behavior. I've been using dovecot for close to a year, and recently the Fedora Core 2 Update: dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2 build came in via yum. Since then I occasionally get this EXPUNGE disconnect error. When the error hits, the box does not crash but I can no longer log in*, nor start any new processes. I happen to have gkrellm running and I see a slow but steady

VisualHostKey vs. RekeyLimit vs. VerifyHostKeyDNS
Hello list, I'm not sure whether this is bug worthy or just my own
insanity. I'm using 6.4p1 packages from Debian jessie and
wheezy-backports.
I like VisualHostKey, although it may not add any protection (other than
not trusting ones own known_hosts file?), I've become accustomed to it
as it seems that extra neurons fire when I log into a host and get a
visual cue of what looks like

fd_send broken pipe
Hi,
I'm trying to move from UW-IMAP to Dovecot.
This is on a RedHat 7.3 system and I'm using the Dovecot RPM from
Dag Weirs site. dovecot-0.99.13-1.0.rh7.rf.i386.rpm
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/dag/redhat/7.3/i386/dovecot-0.99.13-1.0.rh7.rf.i386.html
When I start up Dovecot, I get the following:
dovecot: Dovecot starting up

Roaming Profile not found - replacement PDC
Howdy everyone:
Here's an interesting one:
I have joined a machine to the domain, and I log on. Then, I get a
message to the effect that the user's roaming profile couldn't be
[loaded or found?], and a local profile will be used instead (and
actually this also fails, but is not the point of my question... I don't
think).
Background

need help with libtool/aclocal error
I'm trying to build an executable for a program I wrote. The
compilation steps go well, but the linking step fails with a libtool
"version mismatch" error. My linking command has this prefix:
/path/to/R/bin/R CMD LINK gcc -g -std=gnu99 ... etc.
The error looks like this:
libtool: Version mismatch error. This is libtool 2.2, but the
libtool: definition of this LT_INIT comes from

Creating a Bootable Image file
Newbie Question:
We are using RHEL 5.2 with the 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5xen kernel. I am trying
to follow instructions that I found to create an bootable image by doing
the following:
I first created a 10 gig file and formatted the partition using the dd
and mkfs.ext3 commands:
dd if=/dev/zero if=generic.img bs=1024k count=10000
mkfs.ext3 -t ext3 generic.img

generating new data with for loop
I'm new at R ...
I've not done for loops in R - so this is very new to me.
One of our students has a data frame that contains two columns data
1. unixtime time of an event (in unix time - #of seconds)
2. duration of event in seconds.
We need to create new data - the unixtime (seconds) that these events
occurred.
We want to create a for loop (or nested for loops) that goes through the

deleting folders containing subfolders with thunderbird (mbox format) bug
When using Thunderbird (dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3) on Fedora connecting to
dovecot-0.99.13-3.FC3 I am having problems deleting folders which have
been created with the 'Allow your new folder to contain: Folders only'
option picked.
The folder appears to get deleted but upon restarting Thunderbird the
folder still appears to be there but clicking on it I get the error:

Bring up problem
I am hoping I can get a little light she on a problem I am having trying
to bring up a guest domain.
I suspect that the problem is in my supplied file system
First the environment.
VT enabled dual core EM64T processor,
Asus Mb (I can get the exact chipset infor if relevant)
2 Gig of DRAM
SATA drives.
I have build and booted the domain 0 using 3.0.2-2 version of xen. This
seems ok.

memdisk etherboot integration
Folks:
I've used etherboot to create a zrom that successfully brings a image of a
bootable floppy into high memory. What I'd like to do is glue memdisk in so
that it can hook int13 and serve the transferred image for booting when
etherboot hands control back to the BIOS.
The trick, and this is where I'd appreciate "gotchas", pointers or "this is an
approach I

RE: [Private] RH8 and Samba 3
Gordon,
I did as you suggested, and that seems to have fixed it. Thanks for the
suggestion However, this is contrary to the given docs on how to use CUPS
with Samba, is it not?

kernel names
Hi
I am pretty new to this, and this may be an easy one, but I have not
found the answer in the docs.
The kernels produced from a build seem to have the same name for both
the dom0 and domU instances.
I get one kernel named vmlnuz-2.16.6-xen
Is this expected?
Although the dom0 boots, I ma having a crappy time getting a virtualized
OS to boot and am trying to see if this is the

Possible bug in 3.0.2 - "Manager is watching"
I call this one the "Manager is watching" bug since it *only* happens
during demonstrations.
Really. I am not kidding. Caused me some, er, awkward moments not
once, but twice.
Actually, the reason may be more prosaic. Here is the situation.
I am using FC4 on an EM64T host with the Xen mods - VT enabled.
I have two VMs. VM1 is Win XP (32 bit), VM2 is RHEL4U1 (32 bits)

3.0alpha23 not authenticating with LDAP (RedHat 9) - Help needed!
Hi!
I am trying to migrate to a new server, with a shiny-new installation
of RedHat 9. I have downloaded the 3.0alpha23 rpm intended for RedHat
8.0...
I am also using the stock RedHat 9 version of OpenLDAP. By itself,
LDAP is working fine: this is how I log onto my Linux boxes. I am
including one sample user (me) below, which I extracted using
"ldapsearch -x".
Great - this is

Pocket Outlook
Hi all,
Another user posted the same thing a few months back... after contacting
them, they said they never got it working.
I'm unable to get Pocket Outlook, or FlexMail 2006 working on Dovecot
0.99.13. According to the logs it connects just fine. With Pocket
Outlook I'll see the headers for a few seconds, and then it clears and
shows nothing. With FlexMail, which is supposed to have

Join Domain OK, but domain name not found after reboot :-(
Hi, all:
The Situation
=============
I have a WinXP box (yup, sign-or-seal registry patch applied), and I
can initially join it to my domain. It then prompts me to reboot, for
the changes to take effect.
So I do.
After the reboot, I cannot log onto the domain (using users which are
held in LDAP, and who can do console- and ssh-logins fine). The
error-message says something to the effect

Fedora Core 3 or Fedora Core 4? yum update o r not? also: SpanDSP -pre25 for 1.0.9 is out w00t!
Word. I'm doing a dupe of my production server this week as a CYA. Guess
what: FC2. Once I yum update to the current kernel, no more yum. There's no
reason to. You may have your own reasons (publicly avaliable server, for
example) but why add uncertainty to an, at best, quite uncertain process
(that of creating a stable Asterisk install given random hardware, network
conditions, PSTN
