I have a new install of FC5 running dovecot 1.0.0 beta 2.7. I get my mail with POP3 but I have a user using IMAP. They both work great but I keep getting a message from dovecot in my mail saying DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA. I think it is there to help keep track of IMAP messages. Hey: When I run dovecot and retrieve any mail for a user, a mail directory is created in the users home. It has a subdirectory Inbox. No mail goes there however, it all goes to /var/spool/username. I switched from using Pegasus and POP3 to Thunderbird and IMAP for my email. Now I get a lot of "Corrupted index cache file" errors in my log. I currently have a mail server using Dovecot and sendmail. I was thinking I would like to have a backup of my mail and an additional server in case of hardware failure. My mail server is running on a Fedora FC5 box. I need to move the mail server to another computer and so I need to back up my user's mail and move it. I have found mail in /var/spoo/mail/[users] and in their home directories there is a 'mail' directory. All users have an 'Inbox' file that is empty and I think the one IMAP user has a 'Trash' file that is huge!
