Lost transaction log file in alpha2
I had run alpha1 pretty uneventfully for several weeks. I upgraded to alpha2 a couple of days ago and have since suffered two incidents of "Lost transaction log", resulting in the client being unable to access the mailbox until I "rm dovecot.index.log*" Sep 14 10:48:35 caddy dovecot: imap(jberry): Lost transaction log file /Users/jberry/Maildir/dovecot.index.log seq 1

[OT] Leveno HDD caddies
This is very off topic but, I have no idea where else to ask. We obtained some used Leveno CTO7483 desktop units for experimentation. I had intended to install CentOS-7 on one of them. As they arrived with a vendor upgraded Windows 7ProSP1 install without media I decided to pull the disk drive and install onto a spare drive that I installed. Those of you with any experience with this model

Index and Thunderbird
Hi, Whitbox Linux 3 (RHEL) Dovecot 1.0.rc29 Using NFS From time to time does all mail get re-downloaded to Thunderbird. I would believe this has something to do with an index problem. I upgraded to 1.0 a few months ago but that didn't work well so I installed version 1.0.rc29 which worked better but we still get this problem from time to time. DOes anyone know if it is a good idea to

OT supermicro server chassis?
Does anyone have a supermicro 942i server chassis? I'm trying to figure out if it has a true nine 5.25" drive bays, or if the one occupied by the 3.5" caddy is special / crippled. What I want to do is install three of the supermicro 5x3 hot swap backplanes and I'm gunshy about buying one site unseen. Thanks! Gordon

Rename file opened for read-write -- cannot edit subscriptions
Howdy, Here is a problem with fix affecting dovecot-1.0.10 (and 1.1rc13). On a linux system's CIFS mounted filesystem, it is not possible to rename a file opened read-write: $ sleep 5 >> .subscriptions.lock & mv .subscriptions.lock .subscriptions mv: cannot move `.subscriptions.lock' to `.subscriptions': Text file busy This causes problems in editing subscriptions, as

Deliver: command time exceed limit
We use Dovecot on a cluster (10'000 domains, 30'000 account) without any problem with pop/imap. We use Dovecot 1.0 RC10 Now we use virtual transport from postfix for mail delivery. We need the Dovecot LDA for sieve support. We test this solution on some domains with success. But if we change the configuration of all our domains, we have a lots of bounce with this error in postfix

Something other than dotlock for uidlist locking?
If I read the code correctly, only dotlocks are supported for locking of dovecot-uidlist. And I don't see any settings in the config file for it. As it turns out, dotlocks are very slow on my system, due to their implementation via hardlinks. Would it be possible to support other locking mechanisms for locking of the uidlist file? -jdb

Error while Mounting
I am attempting to setup a 2 node ocfs2 cluster. At this point, I have the latest 1.2.1 version of the tools on both nodes. They are not running identical kernels (one is 2.6.16.18, the other is 2.6.17.1) both are using the kernels built in OCFS2 modules, not using from source. I can mount my iscsi volume on either node individually, but when I attempt to mount two nodes, I get the following

rsync to my external eSATA HD is crashing/freezing my system...
Hello list I've been running the following command, first in fc20 and then now (since the beginning of March) in fc26: now=$(date +"%Y%m%d-%H%M"); sudo rsync -ahuAESX -vi /home/ /run/media/readlegal/Backup/home > /run/media/readlegal/Backup/rsync-changes_$now Since the move to fc26, this command has caused the complete freeze/crash of the system. I tried it under multi-user

cluster indices
Hi- I'd like to apply some of the cluter indices, using 'clustindex' in the cclust package, but using output from hierarchical clustering using 'hclust' in the mva package. The two packages use a different format for storing the results of clustering; has anyone coerced one into the other? Thanks! -John Barnett

Software Raids Questions (I have only ever used hardware?)
Hey List; I have no experience with software RAIDs; at work we only use hardware RAIDs and I'm looking to implement, probably a RAID 5 set up at home for a media server however I have a few questions; I have three 1TB drives in various places; one is inside a USB caddy, one is inside my PC and in is inside my existing media centre. Is it possible to add these three drives to another one to

NFS, test52, maildir, freebsd 4.x and OS X (Panther) Server
I've been working on setting up a Dovecot server with a maildir mailboxes stored over NFS. Initially, everything was working great, and then I started seeing this error as previously discussed on the list in my maillog: (mail_index_expunge): assertion failed: (!t->view->external) Timo, in another thread, suggested to remove line 247 in mail-index-transaction.c in the test52

dovecot 1.00 RC2 bugs
imho, dovecot 1.00 RC2 has two bugs at the maildir quota implementation 1. Incorrect calculation of used storage and count of messages When calculating, dovecot counts "." and ".." directory entries. So, if there are no subdirs and messages in maildir, maildirsize still shows 4 messages and some used storage. My workaround is --- src/plugins/quota/quota-maildir.c.orig Sun

Test 57 -> Test 60
I just tried upgrading one of our mail cluster servers to test60 from test57. We have dovecot connecting to 3 different MySQL tables in 3 sql conf files. The error seems to stem from this: Jan 13 14:57:59 svr21 dovecot: auth(sql8): file auth-client-connection.c: line 31 (auth_client_send): assertion failed: (conn->refcount > 1) After this the auth process gets killed with signal 6.

Where to pause stream (minimum decodable length)?
Here is my situation: I have large Speex encoded stream which I would like to playback on wave out device. I could decode whole stream to pcm and play it back as pcm audio, but this is not what I want. Instead I want to decode minimum decodable bits (bytes?) to pcm and play it ... then decode another minimum data chunk and play it, etc. This way I can achieve closest to real-time playback or
