test67 ldap_connection
Hello,
I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with authentication
against an ldap pass/user db with test67 as test62 was working fine.
[ The problem is the same as previously described in this list :
- FreeBSD-5.3
- dovecot-1.0-test67
- openldap-2.1.27
--> "ldap(dovetest,127.0.0.1): No password in reply"
--> "NO Temporary authentication failure."

attr_names in test67
Hello,
I'm wondering if the following situation is valid (though I think it
isn't since I still cannot authenticate with ldap pass/userdb on
test67 running on FreeBSD-5.3).
Is it normal that the passdb_ldap_conn->attr_names second element (for
instance) "turns to" "homeDirectory" as the following step by step gdb
run sample shows ? :

password_verify in test67 with ldap
Hello Timo,
your patch introducing pass_attr_names and user_attr_names fixed the
problem of the 'shared' attr_names member of [passdb|userdb]_ldap_conn
as I answered in the relative thread.
Now I think there is a problem while comparing user-provided and
ldap-provided passwords causing a false 'password mismatch' situation,
while using PLAIN mechanism with LDAP authentication.

imap corrupted indexes
I've searched the archives and find a lot of references to corrupted indexes
but can't seem to find any solutions. It seems like folks either have the
problem or they don't.
We recently migrated from a RedHat Linux server to an OpenBSD 3.7 server (both
using dovecot). Imap was working flawlessly on the RedHat box but now gives
numerous index errors. I then upgraded to

Outlook express confusion
Hi,
This may be a problem with my config file but I am finding that
customers (and more importantly my boss) that are using outlook express
when using test66/67 (upgraded from test60 + from address patch) are
having message reappear after being fully deleted (not just marked) but
are unreadable, sometimes blank headers appear too but again no message.
Since it is affecting my boss he has told me

Excessive dovecot-auth proceses
Hi Guys,
I may have missed something in the conf file but while using a standard
mysql auth method I'm finding many dovecot-auth processing sitting doing
nothing. They grow to the extent that mysql runs out of connections
after a week.
Any ideas?
Regards

1.0-test66
http://dovecot.org/test/
I've still lots of mails in my INBOX and in this list that I should be
looking into.. But here's a release that fixes at least some things.
Maybe I'll make another one tomorrow..
Most importantly keyword code was changed a lot. It's now faster and
less buggy. The keywords are also finally written into mbox, and keyword
changes in the mbox are picked up.

1.0-stable update
Just a note, I backported some larger mbox changes from 1.0-test67.
Hopefully works, but if you're going to try it test it well first :)
Should fix some issues related to X-IMAP/X-IMAPbase header handling and
maybe some other mbox related problems as well.

accessiable by certain users.
Something like this:

Users should be able to move emails from their inbox to the shared
folders, and all user can see the moved email.
Here is what I have done so far:

Assert in mech.c
Hi guys,
Seems to be my week for mailing :)
I am getting the following in my mail log:
Dec 7 11:54:08 svr21 dovecot: auth(sql8): file mech.c: line 143
(mech_auth_finish): assertion failed: (*requests != request)
Is this assert important or can I remove it from my copy of the code?

Delimiter of mailbox changes in response to STATUS command...
Hi -
I've been using Hastymail with my Dovecot server for awhile now.
However, I have noticed that at some point Hastymail stopped showing the
number of unseen messages in its folder drop down list, it just shows 0
for the folders that I have it checking for unseen messages. I'm not
sure when it broke, but I think it's when I went to one of the testing
builds several months

ldap auth with test66
Hello,
The installation of 1.0-test66 (still on FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE-p1 with
openldap-2.1.27) solved the SIGSEV problem I posted here on March 30
but I still cannot authenticate correctly with ldap.
logs report
"ldap(dovetest,127.0.0.1): No password in reply"
and my client gets a
"NO Temporary authentication failure."
Obviously the attr_names array of the

FETCH order fix backport to stable from test66
I've had a go at back-porting Timo's recent fixes to the IMAP fetch
command from 1.0-test66 to 1.0-stable.
This seems to fix the problem with kmail, and Thunderbird seems to
work fine without its RFC822.SIZE fix.
It's a bit big for the body of this message, so it's attached.
The bit I'm most concerned about in my port is whether I got the
buffer_insert call right

dovecot mbox to dovecot maildir migration
Hi,
I'm migrating accounts from one server with dovecot mbox and pam
nss-ldap authentication to a new server with dovecot maildir and mysql
auth (no posix accounts).
My problem is the pop3 uidl format on the two servers are different,
even though I'm using pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv in both configs,
I'm always re-downloading left messages on my test runs. Is there a
way I could

If the first message in an mbox is deleted by an external program, therefore

I'm running dovecot 20051026 version on Redhat4. I tried to do a stress

some error messages in my mail log and am not sure if they are related
to the problem.

master/config rewrite
I've finally got it to work, kind of .. It should allow you to log in,
but several settings don't work yet and there are probably many bugs.
Anyway, I thought I'd show this already in case someone is interested
of looking how it works :)
One thing I'm still wondering a bit is if I should show process names
as:
