Samba, VPN, and Mac OSX 10.4.2
We're having an odd problem with connecting to Samba shares over a VPN
with a Mac client.
We have several Mac clients connecting to a Samba 3.0.10-1.fc2
installation. Prior to upgrading them to Tiger, everything worked fine
both local and over an IPSec VPN.
After upgrading to Tiger, they still work fine when on our LAN. But if
they try to connect to a share over the VPN, Finder hangs.

osx permission issue
what makes you believe that ssh is accessing the files ?
ok, rsync on remote mac is being spawned by sshd, so i gave full disk
access to the sshd binary , too (as it may inherit restrictions to sub
processes) and restarted ssh service ,
but unfortunately it makes no difference.
did you mean that or something different ?

osx permission issue
hello,
does somebody know how to circumvent that "extra file access restriction
feature" introduced in osx some time ago ?
i already tried adding rsync binary to programms with "full disk access"
privilege ( system-prefs -> security & privacy -> privacy -> full disk
access)? , since running as root is not sufficient - but it does not work.

problem using libao on OSX 10.4
Hello,
I built the entire Vorbis kit on my PowerMac G4 running OSX 10.4.6.
I'm having problems however doing anything with the libao package.
Any time I try to use the library to link it errors out with the
following message:
/usr/bin/ld: Undefined symbols:
_dlsym_auto_underscore
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
If I try to run the ogg123 application I get this:

rsync patch -flags fails to compile on Mac OSX
I am trying to compile rsync 3.0.0cvs with the flags.diff patch on

sys/stat.h only gives the following flags

"Process R is not running" on emacs 21.2.1 using ESS 5.3.0 and R2.3.0 on Mac OSX 10.4.6
Dear R-helpeRs,
I was not sure if this is ESS-specific or Mac-specific etc, so I send
in the main list. I had the setup emacs+ess+R 2.2.1 running fine (on
a powerbook G4).
I recently upgraded R to 2.3.0 and it runs fine from the GUI and from
the terminal. However, when I try to run it from emacs (which was
running fine with R2.2.1) I get the "Process R is not running" message.

Failure in "man 8 vfs_full_audit"?
Good morning list,
is there a failure in that manpage?
(I'm running Samba version 4.17.6-Debian)
The example shows:
[records]
path = /data/records
vfs objects = full_audit
full_audit:prefix = %u|%I
full_audit:success = open opendir
full_audit:failure = all !open
full_audit:facility = LOCAL7
full_audit:priority = ALERT
But:
- opendir is not shown within complete set of Samba VFS operations.

dovecot Maildir issue
I'm working on switching a domain from a Cyrus+postfix+procmail to
Dovecot+postfix+procmail (using Maildir). It works great, except one
small problem.
I cannot figure out what the permissions for my Maildir directories
should be. Can anyone point me to a doc or just a few pointers on
what the permissions of the Maildirs should be? The only way I seem to
be able to make this config work is to

problem using libao on OSX 10.4
I installed fink and now I have the /sw/lib, however that didn't fix
my problem. I went as far as to take out the -
Ddlsym=dlsym_auto_underscore out of the configuration files. Now
however the libao package won't build at all and yips about this:

Exclude from not excluding "My Music" or "Printhood"
We have been using rsync for some time with Linux and FreeBSD, but are
just now trying to make it work with Windows. Not as easy as we hoped.
I am running the cwrsync client 3.0.6 on a new Windows 7 machine to a
FreeBSD 8.1 server. I have an exclude-from filelist, which does seem to
successfully exclude the directories given by many of its entries,
including these two lines:

I am currently running on a Mac OSX 10.3.8 and trying to
compile llvm-1.4 on my local machine for Prof. Adve's class.
I am using Apple's provided gcc 3.3 as my compiler.
I ran into this compile error:

geoR, plot of variog4 lines incomplete
I'm using R for Mac OSX version 1.14 (2129) and the geoR package
version 1.6-5 (the current version in the R repository). I'm running

searched the R archive and did not find a posting on this issue.
I want to use the variog and variog4 functions of geoR to

The ppc32 distro will work on any NewWorld G3, G4 based machine ( and
32bit ibm power, like the older rs6k's ) - it _also_ works fine on the
MacMini and G4 Xserve's.
With some common sense tweaks, a G4 450Mhz is a very
