'Connection dropped by imap-server' when doing searches in
Hi,
It seems that on larger folders (32k emails) searching fails with the
following error under squirrelmail 1.4.3a. (The server continues to work,
as the hard drive stays on for a bit after the error is displayed)

IMAP: Get rid of non-existent folders below INBOX
Hi,
I am using Debian Sarge w/ dovecot-imapd package 0.99.14-1. Squirrelmail
created three folders below INBOX, Drafts/Sent/Trash, that I already had
elsewhere. Thus, I deleted them (through SqM).
However, both Thunderbird and Squirrelmail still show these folders
anyway. When I select them, I keep getting "Mailbox does not exist"
errors. I already tried to move all .imap.index* files

Large folders and timeouts
I have been having persistent issues with server timeouts on operations
on large folders on our Dovecot install (1.0beta2 RPM that came with
Fedora Core 5). Some observations from today...
I have a Maildir folder with 38,000 messages (it is my Spam folder,
naturally :-). In Thunderbird 1.5.0.2, if I click on that folder, it
slowly but steadily downloads the headers and after 3-4 minutes,

QUOTA support timeframe? (also -- folders in folders?)
I see it's been in the wishlist a while. Any possible timeframe for getting
it working, or maybe a patch (or is it too big a change) to support it?
I'm building a new server to move an existing userbase to. So far I have
working:
Postfix (with Maildir quota patches that work fine)
Amavis-new with ClamAV scanning for viruses (will add SpamAssassin soon)

Sent, Drafts, Trash folders
I am hosting imap mail for a new affiliate and am offering webmail via
squirrelmail as well. Squirrelmail created INBOX.Sent, INBOX.Trash, etc by
default and I would like to use these folders for my Dovecot imap users. I
am using the mbox format, Postfix and users retrieve mail via the Outlook
client remotely in addition to webmail access.
Thank you for any help.

Occasional errors opening email folder in SquirrelMail
Every once in a while I get this [1] error when trying to open a mail
folder in SquirrelMail. I don't know enough about IMAP to tell if it is
a SquirrelMail or a Dovecot issue. I also get this [2] error message
every time I try to send an email. The email goes through but there is
no copy in the Sent folder. If there is some kind of logging I can
enable that would help with this please let

IMAP servers and Sent/Junk folders
Hi,
my users were recently moved from a uw-imap on HPUX to dovecot on EL5.
Their sent items and folders went from a ~/Sent mbox file (when using
SquirrelMail and Apple Mail both) to ~/mail/Sent for SquirrelMail and
~/mail/Sent Messages for other imap clients. I notice I can cat the
files together and the only artifact is I end up with multiple "This

SquirrelMail 1.4.6 and Dovecot 1.0.beta3 Folders
I migrated from UW IMAP, copied ~/.mailboxlist to ~/mail/.subscritions
When I access SquirrelMail, is sees the folders on the left side.
If I modifiy my folder subscription, they dissappear all but INBOX,
and the .subscriptions file gets deleted.
What am I missing.
Thanks

Error when searching in mailfolders
Hello,
I just found that with my dovecot 2.2.21, when I use squirrelmail to
search for something in my mailfolders, that fails with
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: SEARCH CHARSET ISO-8859-1 ALL FROM "someone"
That happens for searches in any folder, except from INBOX. When I search
in all folders, only results from INBOX are found, then the error message
is shown.

imap problems; error accessing inbox and some other folders
Hello all,
First off, please let me apologize for cross posting this in both the
fedora and centos lists.
I have just run into a problem with imap that's becoming a real issue.
About two or three days ago some of the mail folders became
unusable/unreadable. For instance, my inbox shows 41 unread messages when
I access it through pine on the server. But if I imap into it from

Slow squirrelmail login/IMAP CPU 80%
I've been having a problem with Dovecot on Fedora Core 2 with
SquirrelMail on the same system.
When ever I login through SquirrelMail the imap process consumes around
80% of my CPU and the login takes forever (about 10 minutes). 1
Once I do manage to login, everything is fine and can even log out and
back in without issue.
Has anyone encountered this?
Thanks,

Squirrelmail and Dovecot folder namespace
I am currently using Squirrelmail and Dovecot with this setting:
default_mail_env = mbox:%h/mail/:INBOX=%h/mail/INBOX
It works well, however folder subscriptions in Squirrelmail annoyingly
end up with "./" prefixes because Squirrelmail refuses to work without
overriding the folder namespace. All of my other IMAP clients work fine
without setting that option.

Thunderbird and Trash folder
Hello,
I have my problems with the Trash folder in thunderbird. Most of the
times (it did work, but only for a short period) Thunderbird is not
considering the "Trash" folder (or in my case the "Papierkorb") as the
trash folder. The symbol disappears and I am not able to delete folders.
Deleted emails are disappearing at all.
The usual Google solutions like maildir vs.

trouble deleting folders that only contain folders
Hi,
I'm using dovecot 1.0.5 with mbox storage. Users can't delete folders
that are created to 'only hold other folders'. I can create these
folders with no problem. They are directories in the file system. Normal
folders (which are mbox files) are deleted with no problem. I've tried
with both squirrelmail and Thunderbird, and what happens when a delete
is requested, is

dovecot 1.0.7: how to create translated imap folders?
Hello,
I would like to have Polish imap folders' names in dovecot instead of English. How I can do this with dovecot?
Change table of folders:
INBOX -> Otrzymane
Sent -> Wyslane
Drafts -> Robocze
Trash -> Kosz
Then I would like to display them using SquirrelMail.
My configuration:

Users w/o acl access appear to be subscribed to public folders (1.1b8)
I noticed this today, I had a user outside of our department test out
dovecot. They were using squirrelmail and I noticed that dovecot thinks
this user is subscribed to ALL public folders even though a dovecot
ACL prevents all access. I'm pretty sure access is still denied.
I was able to reproduce this with a guest account I added:

Can't access Squirrelmail on Centos 8
Good evening,
I have not able able to run the http://ip-addr/src/configtest.php script, nor access Squirrelmail. Looking for suggestions on what I might
have missed. When I try either http://ip-... or https://ip-..., I get the following reply

I got squirrelmail installed in /usr/share/squirrelmail and
