Dovecot deliver and procmail
Hi,
I have site w. around 7000 users, most of which have some procmail rules
(theres even .procmailrc in /etc/skel with rule to put spam into spam
folder). Afaik dovecot's deliver doesnt understand procmail rules, so
i'd like to ask if its possible to configure procmail so it saves mail
using deliver, without modifying users .procmailrc
Thanks for any pointers,

Customizing desktop systems
My company is now in the process of rolling out enterprise desktop
systems (mostly rhel3 since we have some commercial software that is
not quite ready for rhel4). Most of our users (ca. 120 workstations)
are using RH9. I've developed a simple, extensible set of kickstart
post procedures and firstboot procedures that provide a quick way to
image new systems, but one thing is missing.

why does rsync list files for one directory but not another
Hi, I'm running rsync 2.5.7 on RHEL3 locally and 2.5.4 on RH7.3
remotely. Below is a transcript of a session where rsync lists the
files that it will transfer for /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc but not for
/home/jeff. Would someone tell me what I need to do to get it to work?

Blank lines in mailboxes
Hello,
we use dovecot on a regular basis. Sometimes I end up with a user
telling me he does not get mail. When I look after the problem,
I always find leading blank lines in the mbox file. We are using postfix
with dovecot and amavisd as spam scanner. Amavisd never accesses the
mbox files directly so this can be ruled out. I suspected procmail but
now it happened also with accounts where no

dovecot mailbox to csv
We (the Math department at the U of Wisconsin) recently switched over from
another server to dovecot
One thing that a lot of people here do is set up an on-line form that sends
them email. They use formmail for this. I have them edit their procmail
config so that all the messages go into a particular mail folder.... So far
so good.
With our old system, all messages in a folder were kept in a

Smooth mailbox to maildir migration
Hi all,
I have a postfix+procmail+dovecot installation, now running basicaly
on pop3 hence mailbox format, with few thousand users and less than
twenty gigabytes mail.
I need to move all of them to maildir, to take advantage of IMAP
subfolders that do not work with mbox format (so I'm told :).
Of course I cannot safely stop the service for more than a bunch of
seconds...

I am currently running Dovecot as a pop3 server with standard /var/mail

I would like to run a mixed Imap/Pop3 server with ~/maildir inbox's

0.99.14-1.1.el3 vs 1.0-0_20.rc7.el3
Hello all,
I am new to the list so bear with me.
I am testing dovecot out on a test server running RHEL ES 3, I have
installed 0.99.14-1.1.el3 and 1.0-0_20.rc7.el3. This server is using
the mbox mailbox format, running sendmail, procmail, and using PAM to do
authentication to an LDAP server. I get varying results between the two
version.

imap pop3 servers
I'm doing a complete upgrade of a server which I was using uw-imap for
the imap/pop4 daemons.(This was an old RH 7.2 system and has been
upgraded to CentOS 4.4 64bit) I notice there isn't an rpm at any of the
repositories for this. I do pop before smpt for the remote users I have
and also use procmail for calling spamc from SpamAssassin.
Is there some place I can get uw's imap or

mailbox locking
Dear Colleagues,
I use exim's appendfile transport, procmail and a local mutt on my
system, they all (to my knowledge) use lockfiles when working with
mboxes.
However, `doveconf | grep lock` says
dotlock_use_excl = yes
lock_method = fcntl
mail_max_lock_timeout = 0
mbox_dotlock_change_timeout = 2 mins
mbox_lock_timeout = 5 mins
mbox_read_locks = fcntl
mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl

Multiple mailbox formats, per-user mailbox format support
Hello,
I have a setup where each user has different mailbox
formats (some use only /var/spool/mail/user) mailbox format,
some is stored in mbx format ~/INBOX or ~/mbox and
some is stored in maildir format in ~/Mail/
I currently use UW-IMAP to read /var/spool/mail/... and the mbx format
mailboxes in ~/INBOX and mutt to read ~/Mail/... (the maildirs in ~/Mail/
are created by procmail rules)

Hitting wall at 2048 IMAP connections
We are gradually rolling out Dovecot (IMAP only, no POP3) to our
customer base. We are replicating between a pair of CentOS 7 boxes.
All has been working wonderfully. However, to be sure our rollout
continues to go smoothly, we put together a simple benchmark client
program to fire up X persistent IMAP connections (using hundreds of
mailboxes) that login, list the folders, select the

new mails don't always show
Hi,
I am having some trouble with dovecot (0.99.14) and maildir. Some users
are reporting that sometimes, they don't get (pop3, various clients) new
mails for a while even though they should.
I checked and confirmed this: mails were delivered by MTA (sendmail,
procmail). But when the problem existed, the new mails were in cur/, not
new/ and dovecot would not report any new messaged to the

whole user mailbox read only
Hello,
i was browsing the dovecot wiki for some documentation related to the
use of ACLs but i couldn't find an answer.
i'm in the need to prevent users from deleting emails, yet being able to
add new content via imap, what i mean is that a user should be able to
create an email in its mailbox (maildir actually is used), but once the
email is there the user shouldn't be able to delete

Bug: Loosing Group Permissions in Archive Mode with Sticky Bit and ACL Mask
Hello,
I currently try to copy a directory locally between two ext4 filesystems
while preserving permissions and ACLs using the -aAX options. Under some
conditions, rsync does not copy the posix permissions completely, it
changes the group::rwx to a group::--- permission. The latest rsync
available on Debian Jessie is 3.1.1, but the changelog for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3
did not seem to mention such a bug
