Entourage on Dovecot 09.11, is 1.0-test the answer?
Background: I'm running a RH9 box with Dovecot 0.99.11. Dovecot was installed using yum and the rpm found on http://dag.wieers.com/packages/dovecot/. With two exceptions I've been enormously happy with Dovecot. I'm even happier having recently successfully installed pop-before-smtp sop one exception down. However the other problem I've experienced is becoming critical. I've

dovecot and outlook express and large messages
Hi I have been using Dovecot 0.99.11 and 1.0-test52 on a server with about 2000 accounts. All has been working good until a few days ago. Now I'm stuck and can't work out whats going on. The problem seems to be only with Outlook/outlook express clients. If the mail is large with an attachment its fails. After you hit the send and receive button after a while Outlook express gives the

pop3 and home directory
I have a question regarding dovecot (1.0-test52) and pop3. I have users that do not have home directories, they only have an inbox in /var/mail. When they try to pop their email, dovecot tries to create ~/mail and then fails. Is there a way around this or will all email users need to have a home directory? [PATCH] add initial response support for NTLM and RPA
Hello, this patch adds initial response support for NTLM and RPA authentication mechanism. It can be useful if dovecot acts as authentication backend for SMTP server. RFC2554 permits initial response in AUTH command, so it's legal to send NTLM type 1 message or RPA token 1 in it. Please consider applying. [PATCH] NTLM update and crashfix
Hello, attached patch allows LM authentication for older (Win9x) clients which do not pass NTLM response in type 3 message. It also fixes crash in dovecot-auth (empty credentials could be passed to hex_to_binary function if NTLM2 was negotiated). Please consider applying. Optimum online-upload throttling confirmed.
Hello All, I was recently fighting with an optimum online connection in NY. I finally got in touch with someone that confirmed they are throttling my upload connection. I just wanted to make everyone aware of it, so if you have problems if your ping times jump erratically, this could be the cause. Their suggestions were, although you can upload a lot, do not do it constantly. They do not want

Advice on visual graph packages
Hey, all. I'm looking for packages that are good at two things 1) Drawing directed graphs (i.e nodes and edges), both with single and double headed arrows, as well as allowing for differences in line width and solid versus dashed. Note: I've tried Rgraphviz here, but have run into some problems (which seem fixable and I may go with it in the end), and it doesn't satisfy need

USB DIsk and mount point
Hello. I use Centos 4.1 When I inserted my usb 2.0 disk for the first time it created the mount point /media/usbdisk just fine. Which I used to mount the disk. But as soon as I used it in another computer (winxp) when I took the usb back to centos the mount point had become /media/IOMEGA (yeah it's an iomega driver) but then as time goes by, the mount point every time the disk is used

Strange behavior of mysql 4.1.8/9 + dovecot1.0-test58~test61 on Fedora 3 x86_64 machine
Some additional tests. I tried to add a test connection in the main.c under auth, which should be the main file of dovecot-auth. The test connection is done as the first statement in the int main() function. However, it still reports that the connection fails due to access denied. What should I do?? Any suggestions are welcomed. -----Original Message----- From: dovecot-bounces at dovecot.org

slow usb hard disk performance.
Dear All, I tried a USB2 Maxtor One touch II external hard disk on a couple of my Centos 4.2 boxes and found it initiallised the SCSI subsystem ok and added device "sda". But the performance is miserable, yet the same hardware running XP the performance is satisfactory. HDPARM gives results varying from 120k/sec to , at its peak 4.75M/s on a USB 2 machine, still very poor by any

1.0-test59
http://dovecot.org/test/ No-one had been testing 1.0-tests with Evolution? It was pretty much completely broken with messages having attachments. - test58's output stream code change were entirely wrong and caused bad breakages with mbox. - Named pipes are now treated as write-only mboxes (blocks if no-one is reading, perhaps it should timeout in a few seconds?) - FETCH BODY[n.xxx]

1.0-test52
http://dovecot.org/test/ I have very high hopes that mbox support is finally stable in this version. I've been running some stress tests for an hour now without it breaking (well, there are two potential problems but I think they were just fixing previous breakages). Before it took only a few minutes at most to break. - fixes several mbox syncing problems, especially expunges

Dovecot SQL auth problem? (1.0-test52-56)
Hi there, We are living dangerously and using the test versions on our production servers which are migrated from 3 different older servers (about 5000 accounts) therefore we have 3 different MySQL auths. All seems to be ok, but a guy in the office is using Thunderbird as pop3 access. The auth is saying: auth(sql): plain(?,xx.xxx.xx.xxx): invalid input I have hidden his IP for security

Dovecot 1.0-test52 and LDAP authentication
Hi all! I have upgraded Dovecot 0.99.11 installation that's worked with LDAP to Dovecot 1.0-test52 and I can't get LDAP to work. I noticed the /etc/dovecot.conf is slightly different, so I have adjusted changes. If I use the standard auth (passw & pam) everything works fine, however when I user ldap for auth Dovecot starts but then dies: dovecot: Nov 26 14:14:36 Error: Auth process

NFS, test52, maildir, freebsd 4.x and OS X (Panther) Server
I've been working on setting up a Dovecot server with a maildir mailboxes stored over NFS. Initially, everything was working great, and then I started seeing this error as previously discussed on the list in my maillog: (mail_index_expunge): assertion failed: (!t->view->external) Timo, in another thread, suggested to remove line 247 in mail-index-transaction.c in the test52

possible bug with mail->get_header and caching?
I don't know if this is intended or not, but here it comes. I have * that copy plugin I was working on * dovecot 1.0-test59 * thunderbird test client My copy plugin looks for the X-DSPAM-Signature header line, and reports it to syslog as such: imap: we have a signature: "X-DSPAM-Signature: <sig>" where <sig> is replaced by what is found in the header line. Dovecot causing hanging on random folders...
I've been using the 1.0 test series (currently 1.0test 67 and before that 1.0-test59) and both exhibited this issue.. I use Thunderbird and will open one or two of my nested Maildir folders via imap and find that it goes out there trying to open the folder (according to the messages that Thunderbird claims) and it never comes back.. I've attached to the various dovecot processes to
