KMail + dovecot
Is anyone running docecot on a home LAN. to give an IMAP feed to other machines on the LAN? I am running dovecot on my desktop, alfred. I want to collect email on my laptop, william, using KMail. As far as I can tell, dovecot is running perfectly. I can bring email from /var/spool/mail/tim on alfred to the same directory on william by running "fetchmail alfred" on william. I can then

SSL: Server CommonName mismatch: localhost.localdomain
Greetings, I have seen via google that this very problem was already discussed on several lists some months ago, but the archives report no solution. I have a remote server with dovecot 1.0-0_12.beta8 on Centos 4.3. IMAP works just fine: I can read email from both Squirrelmail via web and Kmail. Now I have created an ssl certificate on the server, and I'm trying to retrieve email via pop3s

Need advice please
Hi All, I have a system running (home based) Centos latest fully patched, etc that is acting as quasi mail server dhcp and name server. My question deals with mail. This is how it is currently set up. Because I travel for work weeks on end, I have fetchmail on my mail server, set up to poll my isp and download all my mail from work and personal isp. In this way my mail queues at work and

Postfix (I think) problem
I'm getting repeated email (KMail) error messages about one apparently over-large post: -------------------------- Received: from helen.gayleard.com (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by helen.gayleard.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id E4500294A0 for <tim at helen.gayleard.com>; Sat, 24 Jan 2015 14:00:05 +0000 (GMT) Received: (from tim at localhost) by helen.gayleard.com

fetchmail can't talk to dovecot
Hello, I have dovecot q1.0-0_22.rc7 up and running on a server: I can read email from squirrelmail just fine. When I try to download email with fetchmail, however, I get the result below. Why is that happening? In dovecot.conf I have: protocols = imap imaps pop3, so why should pop3 or imap fail? Where should I look? (I'll fix the certificates problem after I've managed to get in

postfix-dovecot via lmtp
I've been trying for some days to get postfix + dovecot + pigeonhole/sieve working on a CentOS-7 home server. I think I may have detected the problem; I read in /var/log/maillog Aug 4 11:29:13 alfred postfix/lmtp[14871]: 9C04C220A99: to=<tim at localhost.gayleard.eu>, orig_to=<tim at localhost>, relay=alfred.gayleard.eu[private/dovecot-lmtp], delay=971,

I don't understand what certificates it is talking about, or how to straighten this out. fetchmail: Server CommonName mismatch: localhost != mail.mydomain.com fetchmail: Server certificate verification error: self signed certificate fetchmail: Server certificate verification error: certificate has expired What do I need to read up on

Syncronizing two IMAP servers
I spend time in two places, in different countries. I have a local network in each place, with IMAP servers on each network. I collect email by fetchmail from various servers, and read email on my laptop with KMail. I tried using just one IMAP server, but this proved impractical. So I have two collections of the same sub-folders, on the two servers. I have two questions: 1. Is there a simpler

Could not connect to host box.domain.tld
I have used fetchmail/procmail/postfix/dovecot/kmail for some time on my mail server, and have set this up on three or four machines in the past. I'm now setting up a new server and having problems. I've reached the thinking-in-circles stage, so need a prompt. The box in question is called borg2.lydgate.lan, and resides at 192.168.0.40. I can ping both borg2.lydgate.lan and

Shorewall problem, perhaps with PPPoE
I have what strikes me as an odd problem with shorewall. Let me describe my setup. My desktop (alfred) is connected to the network through an ADSL modem. I am running rp-pppoe, and this works perfectly. I have a small home network, with two LANs; an Ethernet LAN (including a machine running Windows XP), and a WiFi LAN, including the laptop (william) I am using now. All the computers except for

dbus support in dovecot?
Greetings; I am trying to transition from ubu10.04.4 LTS to ubu12.04.2 LTS, but in the changeover I want to setup dovecot as a local only imap server so that I can read & respond to email from any of the other 4 or so machines on my local net. To that end, and given that I have a well working setup right now, using fetchmail driving mailfilter as a pre-check, procmail as the MTA

test77, yahoo & fetchmail
I've run into a rather narrowly scoped problem .. On test77 and test78, mails from Yahoo's webmail are seen, by fetchmail using imaps, to have a 0-length body. When fetching, it claims "0 body octets". Other mail clients (mutt, kmail) can view the messages fine. pop3s retrieval works as well. Every other email I've received so far works fine. It's just those sent by

Turn off fetchmail warning?
Is there any way of turning off the fetchmail warning ---------------------------------- fetchmail: Warning: the connection is insecure, continuing anyways. (Better use --sslcertck!) ---------------------------------- which I get when fetching imap mail from my college department? I know they should get a root certificate, but I'm told they are looking into it, but that could take forever.

Evolution: always a 90-second delay
I'm trying to use Evolution on the latest CentOS 7. Whenever I try to receive or send mail, there's always a 90-second delay before the connection works. Since the delay is always exactly 90 seconds, I think I may be waiting for something to time out. Perhaps this is a clue. My address is user at example.com. I have to log in to pop.example.com or imap.example.com as user, not as user at

Changes 2.5.2p2 -> 2.9p2
Hi, Appologies for a possibly inexact bug report but I've noticed a change in behaviour from openssh version 2.5.2p2 to 2.9p2. One of my many uses for openssh is setting up a secure tunnel from my home machine to an external mail server and using fetchmail over said tunnel. When done in this manner fetchmail actually starts up openssh. When I moved from 2.5.2p2 -> 2.9p2 (both compiled
