1.0-test53 and 'Junk in start of group' messages
Hello.
I am using dovecot-1.0-test53 with Maildir mailstore, with pine 4.61 as
MUA.
I have several folders which cause error messages like 'Junk in start of
group' in Pine when I read them. I googled a bit for this, and found
that removing the index file should do the trick, but unfortunately, it
does not.
What can I do to make these annoying messages disappear ?
Thanks in advance.

test53 and signal 11 errors
I installed test53 tonight, and I've begun to see the following error
in my maillog every time I attempt to retrieve mail from an imap
client:
dovecot: child 46128 (imap) killed with signal 11
I built from source on FreeBSD 4.9 with the following:
./configure --with-mysql --with-storages=maildir --with-ssl=openssl
A little bit of Googling seems to indicate that this is a hardware

Sorry for not answering any questions for past two weeks, I'll try to
get around answering them in next few days.
I've also been thinking about if I should switch from CVS to Darcs. It
seems to be exactly the kind of reversion control tool I had wanted to
use. Anyone have comments for or against it? I'd still have read-only

sig11 with test36/37 on some emails
Sometimes I'll get an email from a luser which will cause the POP3 daemon to
sig11. The email "appears" to be legal. The sig11s only happen on specific
emails, and once I remove the emails from the server, the rest can be
downloaded. I gzipped the email, and its at
http://theapt.org/bogusemail.gz. While this example is international spam,
the sig11s happen with real emails too.

SIG11 at runtime
Hello.
My smbd dies with SIG11. This occurs in 1.9.18p10 as well in 2.0.0beta2.
I've read the Samba archive and found the article "Re: 1.9.17p4 - SIGNAL
11 error ??" from Luke and recompiled it with "-g -g". Here the results:
After a "smbclient -L localhost" or any other tries to connect to the
server the server dies an

Sig11 and some corrupted indexes after 1.0-stable -> 1.0.alpha1
I just upgraded my production box from 1.0-stable to 1.0.alpha1. I've
noted some new errors in my dovecot logs:

sig11 with 1.0.beta3 on openbsd-i386
i recently helped a friend of mine migrate from imap-uw using mboxes to
dovecot on top of Maildirs and came up against two issues. this is
quite embarrassing as ive been claiming dovecot is Solid As A Rock(tm)
and hasn't ever given me any issues.
1. if dovecot runs out of file descriptors it will loop forever trying
to open new logging pipes. the code in question is at line 624 of

sig11 in 1.1rc5 fts
This happened from one user near noon on the 17th and 19th (today) of
this month. From the backtrace it looks like they were searching, but I
won't know for sure unless I need to ask them. Is this possibly fixed
already? I just haven't upgraded dovecot in a while due to lack of
problems. The sig11 happened a few dozen times, a few seconds apart
each day. I have one coredump from

I don't know how this happened. I'm not sure if there is a coredump

cvs pserver sig11 on 4.8-R
Hi all,
We recently moved our CVS repository from a 4.6-STABLE machine to a brand
new 4.8 install, on another identical machine. The server runs cvs in
'pserver' mode, for remote access by various Windows/Solaris/Linux/FreeBSD
clients.
We pretty soon noticed that the cvs server process was occasionally crashing
on sig11 (ie. a segfault). The only evidence for this was in the message

Generating samples from truncated multivariate Student-t distribution
Dear Members,
I am working with 6-dimensional Student-t distribution with 4 degrees
of freedom truncated to [20; 60]. I have generated 100 000 samples
from truncated multivariate Student-t distribution using rtmvt
function from package ?tmvtnorm?. I have also calculated mean vector
using equation (3) from attached pdf. The problem is, that after
summing all elements in one column of rtmvt result

D-bus integration
Dear OpenSSH developers,
I was looking at the fail2ban project and had an idea that instead of
parsing log files it could be possible to notify interested parties
(like fail2ban) via (for instance) D-bus about a failed login attempt.
Other application could also use this protocol to notify about suspect
behaviors. A central functionality will allow for other (new) projects
to integrate

migration to maildir and arrival time
Hello.
I am currently testing dovecot (0.99.10.8, Debian woody from backports),
with the maildir storage.
I have noticed that when I use the mailutil tool from uw-imap
distribution to transfer my IMAP mailboxes from our current server
(uw-imap, mbx format) to the dovecot one, the mails arrival time are
apparently lost. I can see this in Pine, using the Arrival sort: the
mailboxes on the

Instance variables versus local variables
This novice coder roughly understands the difference between instance
and local variables thanks to David Black''s excellent book, but I''m
still unclear as to when and why a either is more desirable to use.
In general, I use instance variables in my controller and local in my
views, but I''m not sure as to why or if this is correct.
Thanks
