LMTP Post login script for acl_groups
I think, i had the same problem as you. When dovecot runs lmtp, no user is logged in, so there is no user from which you can get groups. So i think, my solution is (not really sure, if this is right, it's a long time ago, i played around) this transport in exim for local delivery dovecot_delivery:????????????? ? debug_print = "T: dovecot_delivery_pipe for $local_part@$domain translates

NFS lock contention for dovecot-uidlist
We are in the process of migrating away from Courier-IMAP/POP3 and Maildrop. I want to use Dovecot (LDA, IMAP, POP3). During my testing, it has worked great except for dotlocking on the dovecot-uidlist file. The problem: When a delivery is being made with deliver and a mail client has the mailbox open (Thunderbird in this case), neither Thunderbird or deliver can get a dotlock on the

1.0-test52
http://dovecot.org/test/ I have very high hopes that mbox support is finally stable in this version. I've been running some stress tests for an hour now without it breaking (well, there are two potential problems but I think they were just fixing previous breakages). Before it took only a few minutes at most to break. - fixes several mbox syncing problems, especially expunges

Changing Password Schemes
First of all, you can probably go online before you convert all passwords. You can modify your query in dovecot-sql.conf.ext to something like the following: SELECT IF(crypt_pass IS NULL OR crypt_pass='', CONCAT('{PLAIN}',plain_pass), crypt_pass) as password FROM mailuser .. This is assuming that: * for incoming users, you have a plain_pass column containing just the plaintext

Dovecot 2.0.rc4 core dumped with Alpine 2.00
Hi Timo and all others! The current Dovecot 2.0.rc4 did really well with Mutt 1.5.20 and Thunderbird 3.1.2, but a user with Alpine 2.00 crashed it immediately. I'm running Fedora 13 (Linux) and compiled Dovecot 2.0.rc4 manually like I did before with Dovecot 1.2.13. When switching from 1.2 to 2.0 I removed all those ".imap" folders with internal cache data (didn't know for sure

Imap Notify
I'm trying to enable Imap Notify in Dovecot 2.2.13. I know that's a bit out of date, but that's what's provided with openSuSe 13.2. The first thing I did was add mailbox_list_index=yes to /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf. Both doveadm -n and dovecot -n show the change. I then used doveadm reload to force dovecot to reread its config file. Despite this, NOTIFY did not show up it

dovecot 1.0-test52 compile notes
Compile issues on an older BSD/OS 4.2 system: src/lib/byteorder.h needs #include <netinet/in.h> to pick up in_addr struct src/lib/byteorder.c no "libgen" here (no basename()). Added it inline, no big deal, but you might want to have configure test for this and provide one if it's missing. Also, on this system there are no types like "uint8_t" and

Dovecot SQL auth problem? (1.0-test52-56)
Hi there, We are living dangerously and using the test versions on our production servers which are migrated from 3 different older servers (about 5000 accounts) therefore we have 3 different MySQL auths. All seems to be ok, but a guy in the office is using Thunderbird as pop3 access. The auth is saying: auth(sql): plain(?,xx.xxx.xx.xxx): invalid input I have hidden his IP for security
