nfs and pop3
Hi, I'm working with dovecot 1.0.beta2 for pop3 only and have set index=memory, so no indizes are created on the disk. pop3_uidl_format is set to %f. The maildirs are located on an nfs-share. So generally, this setup is very similar to what qmail-popup and qmail-pop3d does. However, everytime I'm switching from qmail-pop3d to dovecot, the system load increases from less than 2 to more

2 panics, 1 segmentation fault in dovecot 2.3.0 (fts)
Hi, While testing our migration to dovecot 2.3.0, we encountered 2 panics, 1 segmentation fault while we wanted to rebuild the solr indizes. Problem [1] was encountered while rebuilding the indizes, and now I don't know how many mails/documents are indexed or where it got stuck. [2] and [3] encountered while just playing around, since I did not know of "tokenize" and did not find a

anonymous mailing list archive configuration?
Hi, I'd like to run a mailing list archive via IMAP like for this list but my mails are in maildir and not mbox. It's easy to add a new user that has access to the maildir that mails get stored in, and I can simply link that up to that user's inbox. It's also easy to prevent putting mail into that folder. However, one thing I'm not clear on is how to prevent that user from

moving messages with bash
I use bogofilter and a script or two to manage junk mail on my home box (fetchmail from POP3, postfix and procmail to local maildirs, mutt for MUA). Since these mails are just files I figured it never mattered that I moved them from one folder to another via a bash script, but some posts on this list make me think I shouldn't do that on a server running dovecot (IMAP). What I currently have

Mail_location and formats
Hi, Ok I know that the Maildir hierarchical structure works because I saw it intermittantly in my setup. At times I could look at ALL folders in my client. mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir:LAYOUT=fs http://wiki1.dovecot.org/MailLocation/Maildir this says 1.1 only? My maildir folder has a collection of maildir folders ie each has cur new tmp folders. As an experiment I took the cur new tmp out

deploying dspam
Hi everyone, I've been thinking of phasing out my spamassassin installation (it's hardly doing me any good these days) in favour of dspam. Now since I'm working on this anyway, I thought I'd configure it so when users get any spam, it is delivered into a special folder. I figure I need the 1.0 test series for this, so I can make that folder fixed. But, I also want to allow

agent forwarding with v2
I'm confused about the status of auth agent forwarding while using v2 protocols. I found an old newsgroup post that said it was not available but an entry in the ChangeLog entry dated 20001113 seems to indicate that it was added. So. Does agent forwarding work while using v2 protocols? I've been unable to get it to work since I switched to using v2. Thanks, Ben -- Ben Beuchler

Detecting unused accounts
I'm looking for a way to figure out which accounts have not been logged in to in over n days. It occurs to me that, perhaps, the way to do this would be to look at the mtime on one of the dovecot-maintained files, like 'dovecot-uidlist'. Is there a particular file that would be modified on (almost) every login, whether it be via POP or IMAP? -Ben -- Ben Beuchler

eudora issue
There seems to be a protocol mismatch between eudora and dovecot when using pop. The login interchange with, for example, mozilla, is as follows: MO: [connects] DC: +OK dovecot ready. MO: CAPA DC: +OK DC: CAPA DC: TOP DC: USER DC: UIDL DC: RESP-CODES DC: STLS DC: SASL PLAIN DC: . MO: USER yyy DC: +OK MO: PASS xxxxxxxx DC: +OK Logged in. But with eudora, with apparently equivalent

Using an Exec inside a define
I''m working on a definition for activating/deactivating Apache modules on an Ubuntu system. Inside my Apache class I have this definition: define module($ensure) { case $ensure { enabled: { exec { "a2enmod": command => "/usr/sbin/a2enmod $name", logoutput => on_failure,

Avoiding duplicate definitions
I''m building modules for the various web services I manage and I''m running into trouble in defining the dependencies. For example, two of my services require the same Apache module. If I define the package resource in both modules and then try to include them both on a single node, I get a "Duplicate definition" error. I can avoid this by defining a class that just

Newcomer perceived problems with AAF/Ferret
I blogged about some of the problems with aaf in production (http://www.jroller.com/BrightCandle) yesterday but inspired by the poitive response I thought I would share the perceived problems and discuss some of the potential solutions to help newcomers and make aaf work as if by magic just like Rails does. All of these problems boil down to one simple problem, running acts as ferret in a

Unexplainable problem with POP3 quotas
Greetings * We are having a problem with POP3 quota warnings, and despite we dig into the documentation, mailing list archives, google... we didn't spot any light We are running a self-compiled dovecot 1.1.7. The user base is in a Postgres database. We'd like a quota warning message to be injected into the maildir at 80% and 95% of occupation reached. >From the logs, it looks like

Here's how you can do a single file (i.e., an unlinked executable): llvmg++ -c infile.cpp -o - | llc -march=c -o infile.cbe.c Reid might be able to tell you how to do it with a single command using the llvmc tool. isohybrid boot from logical partition
Hi, Duncan Elliot wrote: > As far as I can see, this essentially trims off the first 3 bytes of the > custom isohybrid MBR image before applying it to the ISO. You probably mean this line: memcpy(mbr, &isohdpfx[hd0 + 3 * partok], MBRSIZE); The indize do not apply to bytes but to byte arrays of size MBRSIZE. extern unsigned char isohdpfx[][MBRSIZE]; (hd0 + 3 * partok)

Optimize jackknife code
Hi, I have the following jackknife code which is much slower than my colleagues C code. Yet I like R very much and wonder how R experts would optimize this. I think that the for (i in 1:N_B) part is bad because Rprof() said sum() is called very often but I have no idea how to optimize it. #O <- read.table("foo.dat")$V1 O <- runif(100000); k=100 # size of block to delete
