A view quirks
Aloha Timo. I found a few odd things while playing with dovecot. At least one of them bugs me, but it might be a result of my own patches - I haven't testet it with mbox or maildir, yet. The details :) 1. * OK dovecot ready. A = (<return> Connection closed by foreign host. 2. * OK dovecot ready. A001 LOGIN xxxxxx xxxxxx A001 OK Logged in. A002 COPY 1 INBOX Connection closed by

1.0-test51
http://dovecot.org/test/ This release is built with autoconf 2.59 and libtool 1.9. We'll see how it works out :) The required changes were done by Matthias Andree. - The last fix for connection hanging made IDLE use 100% CPU - We don't use Maildir/.INBOX/ directory anymore, indexes are stored in Maildir-root - Don't crash with FETCH BODY[n.MIME] - Changed %p (protocol)

Compressed maildir
Greetings, I noticed a while back someone posted a patch/plugin that allowed Dovecot to use compressed mbox files. I'm now wondering how far that would put us from having compressed maildir? I have a server with more CPU than disk space, and while I can buy more HDD space, my backup solution doesn't make that practical. It seems to me that when looking for a message file, if it

Plugin like zlib
Hi everyone. I rebuild a plugin, based on zlib plugin. The changes between this plugin and zlib, is the zlib stuffs is replaced by open, read, lseek, close. With "plain-text" files, its works ok. So, my file is encrypt, and the result from decrypt file is different from fread. Like zlib, i read from fread the size variable, but the value added in seek_offset and pos is the result from

Test51 compile problems
First of all, thanks for a great product. I've been able to get dovecot up and running with minimum pain. Very nice. Running Fedora Core 2 with postfix using mysql for virtual mailbox config. Got release version of dovecot working with a passwd-file, then I wanted to try it out with using the same mysql db as postfix, so I downloaded test51. I run ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc

failed assertion in 1.1.8: istream.c: line 81
Hello, We're having a problem in Dovecot 1.1.8 with a failed assertion on certain mbox format mailboxes. It happens both with deliver when it attempts to delier to the mailbox, and with IMAP connections for the affected box (though I'm not sure what they're doing at the time). 1.0alpha1: stack frame core
Hi, Today's core dump from 1.0alpha1 came from a syslog message of: IMAP(user): pool_data_stack_realloc(): stack frame changed gdb info on the resulting core dump attached. Question: how many people are building/using dovecot 1.0alpha1 with gcc 4.0.1 versus gcc 3.4.x? I am wondering if these issues come from the compiler instead of dovecot itself? dovecot 1.1.4 maildir imap segfault in message_parse_header_next
I've tried to stress test dovecot 1.1.4 with imaptest for days without any assertion failure or crash. Just some "got too little data" messages. So far it's the most stable 1.1.x version. Today a user got this imap segfault with vanilla 1.1.4 (I don't know if it's something you have already fixed in current tree). The user didn't complain of anything, I've just

[PATCH] Request for testing: BSD kqueue ioloop handler
Hello, attached patch adds experimental ioloop handler which uses BSD kqueue API. It compiles and survives my small test program, but not thoroughly tested because I have no suitable BSD machine to torture. Brave owners of (Free|Net|Open)BSD please test and report results :) Best regards. -- Andrey Panin | Linux and UNIX system administrator pazke at donpac.ru | PGP key: wwwkeys.pgp.net

Implementation of editheaders in dovecot
Hello. I wrote the hook function for deliver. I want to add support of editheaders in the plug-in for dovecot. For this purpose I wrote the function rarules_get_stream. Remover of headrs works properly, but adding does not work. I took Timo Sirainen's advice from http://markmail.org/message/skb6arnll5gaopdr . Do I use a correct way of creation of a message? I give backtrace and a
