test49 Authenticate PLAIN disabled stops pop3s
Unlike test47, test49 refuses to authenticate pop3s
if disable_plaintext_auth = yes
Checked the crypto with: snort -vde tcp port 995
The connection is being made with ssl so it looks like
the plaintext auth preventer is broken.

test49 "killed with signal 6" errors...
I upgraded yesterday from 1.0test46 to 1.0test49 in an attempt to eliminate an
error that a couple of my users were getting. Both users were using Thunderbird
0.6 over imaps, and were getting errors that said:
"The current command didn't succeed. The mail server responded: Error in IMAP
command UID: Invalid Body [..] Parameter: Missing '>'in'<14336-13057>'.

1.0-test49 FD leak
I'm running 1.0-test49 on Solaris 2.8.
The good news is that this version fixes my problem with corrupted index
files (so far).
The bad news is it seems to be leaking FDs to do with inbox:

[PATCH] support OEM encoding in NTLM messages
Hello,
after I started to use dovecot as a backend for exim4 SMTP
authentication on my main mailserver, I noticed that some
clients don't advertise unicode support and so they can't
log in.
To fix the problem the attached patch allows use of OEM encoding
in NTLM messages.
Please consider applying.
Best regards.
P.S. I want to release exim4 patch in the near future, probably

Index corruption
I'm getting pretty constant index corruption on (admittedly large)
Maildir folders.
I'm running Thunderbird 0.7.3 and Mutt as my IMAP clients (on FreeBSD).
Server is Dovecot 0.99.10.9
configured thusly:
./configure --disable-ipv6 CC=gcc-3.3 CXX=g++-3.3
--prefix=/opt/dovecot --without-pop3d
on a Solaris 2.8 box. Maildirs are NFS-mounted, but the index files are

1.0-test49
http://dovecot.org/test/
Fixes the extra data appearing in POP3 mails (and possibly some other
random problems).
Created lib-sql API with asynchronous PostgreSQL and synchronous MySQL
implementations. Also means I dropped mysql and pgsql userdb and passdb
and replaced them with one generic sql userdb and passdb. If you were
using the old ones, you'll have to fix your configuration. See

Changing the imaps port #
Dovecot 2.3.4, FreeBSD 11.2
Due to comcast buisness ISP intercepting imaps I need to have my clients
connect to non-standard port (9999). Previously I had been using stunnel
to receive the imaps connection and forward it to the imap port over
127.0.0.1. But I would like to retire stunnel and have my imap clients
connect remotely.
I have configured the imap-login service -

dovecot IMAP misserving problem?
http://togami.com/~warren/archive/2003/evolution-1.4.4-crash.mbox
I suspect that dovecot-0.99.10 is misserving this message in some way
that is confusing some IMAP clients. This behavior causes
evolution-1.4.4 to segfault, and squirrelmail-1.4.1 to be unable to read
the message. The same message served by uw-imapd works works fine in
both evolution and squirrelmail.

Problems with thunderbird
I'm running dovecot-1.0-test50 on openbsd 3.4 and it's working great,
exept with thunderbird.
Everything works fine with squirrelmail.
The instant i log in with thunderbird the imap process goes up to 100%
cpu, and instantly goes back down to 0 when i log out.
I configured dovecot with the following arguments: --with-vpopmail
--with-storages=maildir --without-passwd

./configure --with-mysql --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --with-ssldir=/etc/ssl --with-ssl=openssl
Hi,
I installed dovecot from dovecot-1.0-test51 with this configure line:
./configure --with-mysql --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var --with-ssldir=/etc/ssl --with-ssl=openssl
When I add this to my dovecot.conf:
passdb = mysql /etc/dovecot-mysql.conf
I get this in /var/log/maillog when I run "dovecot -c /etc/dovecot.conf":
Oct 21 13:59:16 one dovecot: Dovecot

big mail problems..
Attachments, large mails & etc. seem to have problems with my
installations of dovecot. As we know, Mozilla likes to take it's mail
in chunks, and after Mozilla, (or Mail.app, it likes to do this, too)
takes its first chunk, it doesn't start getting the rest, even though
ethereal tells me that dovecot OK'ed the 10K chunk.

stopping amd causes a freeze
Occasionally stopping amd freezes my system. It's a rare occurrence,
and I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it.
It's also a real freeze, so there's no way to get into the debugger
or grab a core dump. I only can perform the 4 seconds hard shutdown to
revive the system.
I run amd through sysutils/automounter, which is a scripting solution
that generates an amd.map file

Dovecot/IMP Bug with RFC822.SIZE and BODYSTRUCTURE
Ok, I have narrowed my IMP/Dovecot attachment problem down to what I
think is a bug in Dovecot. The test that follow are performed on
0.99.11.
When you download an attachment in IMP it uses the php function
imap_fetchbody() which contacts the IMAP server and retrieves just the
mime chunk you are looking for.
It does this by first fetching some information about the email, and
then grabs the

Occasional network flakiness
Hi all!
Just become a xen user and this is my first post to the list.
Just installed xen on SuSE 9 Enterprise and got it working. It is great!
I love it.
The bridging seems to be a little flaky when the domU''s are running
dhcp. It seems that when the domU''s start up, the dhcp client is not
ready to get the IP. The domU''s come up without an IP. After rebooting

DomU occasional Boot hang
Hi folks,
I am using Xen on M3A mother board from Assus (64 bit CPU - X4). All the
instances are running CentOS 5.1. There is no monitor attached to the server
and all the outputs (GRUB, Kernel, Terminals) are sent to the serial
console.
Everything works fine except when I try to boot up an instance from Dom0, it
hangs during the boot sequence occasionally (rather more often than just

CentOS 5.7 - occasional lockup
Using Core i7 boxes with CentOS 5.7, have experienced lockups on half of a
handful of units over a couple months. They are Logic Supply Mini-ITX
model KR960 with Core i7-3610QE.
A couple weeks ago I enabled self-reboot on kernel panic (echo 10 >
/proc/sys/kernel/panic) on all units, and had another unit lock up rather
than reboot itself.
I'm not sure how to pursue the problem.
