dovecot pop3s delivers new messages as old (unread) messages ...
I just set up dovecot on fedora core 3 with only pop3s protocol enabled. On my client machine, I use fetchmail to get the mail and then go through procmail and eventually ready by mutt. Everything seems to work fine, except that all new emails are marked old unread emails (i.e., marked with 'O' flag instead of 'N'). This is annoying because some open source lists are so large

Squirrelmail - messages not marked as read
As of test-60 and test-61, running Squirrelmail 1.5.1[cvs] on FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE, messages are not marked as read after they are read. If I switch back to test-59, it works normally. Strange Mail Problem
I submitted this question to the Postfix maillist and they suggested that I post to this one. Here's my issue: I have a Postifx email system running on a CentOS 4 box, with Dovecot pop3 and imap. Last week, one of my users reported to me that about a dozen emails suddenly showed up in his in box (as unread messages), but none of them were addressed to him. Under further investigation,

Using dovecot auth with Postfix
Attempting to setup smtpd auth for Postfix using the Dovecot authorization unix socket. Some info is at: http://www.postfix.org/SASL_README.html To enable operation when Postfix is chrooted, a method from the reference above is to locate the socket at: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth To do this, I have this configuration in dovecot.conf: # listener sockets will be created by Dovecot's

Dovecot 2.1.7-7 only allow localhost access to IMAP and POP3
Recently I have upgraded my server to Debian 7. Debian have now removed uw-imapd and suggest using dovecot instead. Debian include dovecot version 2.1.7-7. On http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/275 and http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/200 I can read how to setup older version of dovecot with SquirrelMail. They recommend to use uncrypted IMAP when SquirrelMail is on same

alternate ports?
I'm trying to set up 1.0 beta 2 on one of our systems, and would like to run it on alternate ports from the standard IMAP and IMAP/SSL ports so that we can test it out a couple users at a time. How does one tell dovecot to listen on alternate ports? I can't find anything in the example config file... Thanks, Gregory -- Gregory K. Ruiz-Ade Sr. Systems Administrator Computer Science

Rebooted the server box today. Now Dovecot doesn't listen at localhost. It does listen at the LAN interface, so it is perfectly usable, but... Does anyone have any idea why it has stopped listening at localhost? Bob Hall

Hello, Sorry for the offtopic subject, but I tried asking this on some Apple mailing lists and could not find an answer there, and as it's related to imap (provided by dovecot), someone might know something about this. The problem is the following: I have a local IMAP server provided by dovecot, so that I can store my mail in maildir format, and read it both using mutt and Apple
