dovecot dimensioning
Hi All, first post here, nice to meet you :)
I've been using dovecot + postfix + clamav + spamassassin for years but always with few users.
Now i must build a server for 1500 users,
they will use various email software (thunderbird, outlook, ..)
the webmail (i'm not sure if squirrelmail or roundcube)
and blackberry devices (with the BIS service).
There will be around 1000 domains

Switch from MySQL/CourierMail to MySQL/Dovecot
Hello, new here.
I am a Centos/Fedora user, and for the past 3 years have been running my
mail server using Postfix/MySQL/CourierMail/Squirrelmail on Fedora. The
current incantation of the tutorial is at:
http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-users-and-domains-with-postfix-courier-mysql-and-squirrelmail-centos-6.2-x86_64
Well it is time to rebuild my mailserver; this time on Centos 6.3. My

Confused about what MTA, MDA, IMAP/POP server to use

(private replies welcome if you want it to go off list)
I currently use Sendmail with MailScanner, SpamAssassin, ClamAV, Procmail, and qpopper for POP3 (hash mail dirs for mbox files)on RedHat 9 server.

How to add ClamAV to Postfix?
I sent this email to the Rehdat list, but I thought the Centos users
might be more inclined to have the command-line solution I am looking
for, so I thought I would post it here too:
I would like to add anti-virus to my email server. Currently I have
Postfix, Dovecot, PHP, and Squirrelmail installed. The users only use
Squirrelmail to access mail. I am looking for command-line
instructions,

QUOTA support timeframe? (also -- folders in folders?)
I see it's been in the wishlist a while. Any possible timeframe for getting
it working, or maybe a patch (or is it too big a change) to support it?
I'm building a new server to move an existing userbase to. So far I have
working:
Postfix (with Maildir quota patches that work fine)
Amavis-new with ClamAV scanning for viruses (will add SpamAssassin soon)
SquirrelMail

Postfix mail server procedure
CentOS Community,
I was wondering if anyone had a good resource or procedure for a step by
step in installing a mail server with Centos. There ARE documents on
google, however almost all that i've found were outdated from 2005. Does
anyone know where I can find this type of document for a mailserver
Postfix + MySQL + SpamAssassin + ClamAV + Squirrelmail + Postfixadmin, etc?

Big Thanks to Johnny
As a result of following Johnny's handy dandy guide, the
postfix/clamav/spamassassin/squirrelmail/dovecot install on one of my
new 4.3 boxes was mostly painless. I've been using postfix and keeping
in touch with Wietse since 98-ish so I'm quite comfy with postfix, but
all this new fangled mail scanning stuff is a bit confusing to an old
dog like me. :-) It seems to mostly work,

Question: email system architecture
Hi,
I have a question about how to implement a mail system, but I don't know
where to ask.
Until now, I have a mail system who receive mail by postfix and
transport it through procmail to the /var/spool/mail/username mailbox.
From here it is retrieved through dovecot (POP3).
Now I have two more users, I want to implement a IMAP server, and also
provide a webmail (squirrelmail)

Spamassassin + Postfix : delete spam mail on the server ?
Hi,
Procmail, it can move messages around based on many rules.
Use something like this in postfix main.cf:
mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail-wrapper -o -a $DOMAIN -d $LOGNAME
And something like this in /etc/procmailrc or $HOME/.procmailrc
SPAMDIR=$HOME/Maildir/.Spam/
:0fw
| /usr/bin/spamc
:0
* ^X-Spam-Status: Yes
$SPAMDIR
DEFAULT=$HOME/Maildir/
ORGMAIL=$HOME/Maildir/
DROPPRIVS=yes

For the record: Postfix+Spamassassin+ClamAV+Dovecot
Postfix 2.5.5
SpamAssassin 3.2.5 (under Perl 5.10.0)
ClamAV 0.95.1
Dovecot 1.2.rc2
works fine on Fedora 10.
Installed Dovecot and ClamAV from source and everything else using yum.
I'm using the ClamAV plugin for Spamassassin:
http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/ClamAVPlugin
I'm calling Spamassassin with:
/etc/postfix/main.cf:
mailbox_command = /usr/bin/spamc -f -e
