Trying to install Test43 with rpmbuild
Hi!
I'm using WhiteBox Enterprise Linux 3.0, which is a re-compile distro of
RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0. I'm installing a new mail server and would
like to use dovecot as it supports Maildir, which the default imapd does
not.
I've downloaded test43's tarball, and would prefer to use RPM to manage
it. To that end, I've tried to do an rpmbuild, but get an error:

I think I finally fixed the hangs some people have been having when
downloading mails. For some reason I could never reproduce this problem
with Linux or Solaris, but with OpenBSD it happened immediately. Stupid
problem with marking output buffer empty if it was full and write()
returned EAGAIN.
Other changes include:
- LDAP initialization crashed

Fixes:
- Crashes in non-x86 64bit systems
- Bugs in cache file header caching (you probably should delete all
dovecot.index.cache files to be sure the bug won't haunt you in future)
- FETCH ENVELOPE patch by Chris Wakelin (I'll try to figure out what
to do with the list patch later)
Known bugs left:

Lots of bugfixes related to syncing. There's still some left.
Somewhat working mbox support:
- combined syncing/rewriting uses much less disk I/O than with older
mbox code
- expunges aren't working yet
- last-uid field in X-IMAPbase header isn't updated
- it's currently syncing the whole mbox constantly even if it hasn't
changed

1.0-test75 and roadmap for v1.0
http://dovecot.org/test/
Keywords are finally stored in maildir filenames and listed in
"dovecot-keywords" file. It should be possible to just rename 0.99.x's
.customflags file to dovecot-keywords (but it can't be renamed back
after modification).
Also fixed another uid/sequence mixup bug with setting keywords in
general (in mbox too).
Fixed SHA1 checksum generation with

Converting mbox to Maildir, all prior read messages are downloaded as new
I am running dovecot 0.99. Everything works great; however, now I am
looking at several different tools to convert mbox to Maildir. It seems
the tools, mb2md.pl, perfect_maildir.pl, and others all do what they
claim; however, when the messages are converted and they are stored in
Maildir/cur, the email clients download these messages as new.
This typically wouldn't be a problem;

deliver setgid issues
Okay .. have dovecot set up with following settings :
userdb static {
args = uid=97 gid=97 home=/export/dovecot/mail/%d/%u
mail=mbox:/export/dovecot/mbox/%d/%u/
}
passdb passwd-file {
# Path for passwd-file
args = /etc/dovecot-passdb
}
Passdb works I think in the sense that I can log into dovecot using a
regular mail client.
The real issue is when I try to deliver

1.0 roadmap
I've read about one month back this list's messages. I've still 216
messages from this year marked as "unread" which I should look into more
(+258 older ones). Also I've 180 "unread" messages in my INBOX also
which might contain something useful. So those messages could still
contain something that should be added to this list.
Anyway looking at my current

dovecot mbox to dovecot maildir migration
Hi,
I'm migrating accounts from one server with dovecot mbox and pam
nss-ldap authentication to a new server with dovecot maildir and mysql
auth (no posix accounts).
My problem is the pop3 uidl format on the two servers are different,
even though I'm using pop3_uidl_format = %08Xu%08Xv in both configs,
I'm always re-downloading left messages on my test runs. Is there a
way I could

Two important fixes:
- Fixes the recently reported dovecot-auth crashes with unexpected
client input
- Fixes mbox corruption in some not-so-common cases. Hopefully this is
the last one. I added more asserts anyway which try to catch similiar
mistakes and avoid losing data.
Others:
- Added oe-ns-eoh workaround for pop3. Fixes outlook/netscape problems

Problem downloading mail with "large" attachment using Thunderbird....
We have a user that is using Thunderbird on Windows to read mail over IMAP and it works ok, except for downloading mail with
"large" attachment.. When opening a mail with a attachment with a size of 14-15MB, TB downloads the attachment seemingly ok, but
TB stops when reaching 99%. After TB has stopped, if the user tries to select another mail, TB just hangs and it has to be closed

mbox sync/lock issue, rc28 and later
Help!
I just noticed this error this morning, we have been getting a
lot of these in rc28 and rc29, not in rc27 or before:

- Added pop3_uidl_format setting. No need to patch sources anymore if
you don't want the default. Does anyone want pop3_uidl_xuidl_header
yes/no setting, with fallbacking to pop3_uidl_format if X-UIDL header
isn't found? Shouldn't be difficult to do..

Quota plugin and SQL
I have read through http://wiki.dovecot.org/Quota/Dict, which suggests a
database schema for using quota. For 1.2, this includes a username,
bytes and messages.
Is there any way to modify the queries used to split out username into
localpart and domain? This would enable me to put the current quota
information in my main mailbox table and display it to users in my admin
interface.

1.0-stable update
Just a note, I backported some larger mbox changes from 1.0-test67.
Hopefully works, but if you're going to try it test it well first :)
Should fix some issues related to X-IMAP/X-IMAPbase header handling and
maybe some other mbox related problems as well.
