Samba 3.0.0 PDC, XP SP1, and domain joining woes.
Greetings, you kind and wonderful people. I've spent the past few hours or so (read: all day) attempting to get a basic PDC up and running, with no success. I've even gone to the extent of copying John Herpstra's config, which contains all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, in the hope that he had something I missed. He didn't. I've got one box running debian testing, with

Multiple authentication databases
Hello, I'm trying to setup multimple auth. databases with Dovecot 1.0 alpha2. I wrote in dovecot.conf next lines (as was described at http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/MultipleAuth) auth_debug = yes auth_verbose = yes auth default { mechanisms = plain user = root passdb sql { args = /usr/local/dovecot/etc/dovecot-mysql.conf } passdb pam

Requiring multiple auth mechanisms
I looked around for a while, but couldn't find any code for requiring multiple authentication mechanisms in openssh. So I wrote an implemention. I thought at first I should change the PasswordAuthentication, PubkeyAuthentication, etc. keywords to allow no/yes/required. But there's some funky stuff in auth2.c with respect to keyboard interactive auth that would make this kind of

dovecot 0.99.xx to 1.0-stable how-to?
I realize that there have been some big changes in features and configuration file settings between 0.99.xx and 1.0-stable, so when I went to perform an upgrade on our testing server, I carefully combed through the configuration files and matched up everything I could. I fired up dovecot-1.0-stable and was pleased to see that it was happily running. I attempted to connect to it, and

Yes, latest git version. The logs show (as I read them) returned results - yet nothing shows in the client. The logs look the same (with different numbers) when querying "regular" folders - but results are shown in clients. -- Daniel On June 6, 2019 12:16:08 AM Joan Moreau <jom at grosjo.net> wrote: > Hi > Are you using the latest git version ? > WHich part exactly

Hi Are you using the latest git version ? WHich part exactly of your logs relates to "virtual folders do not work" ? On 2019-06-05 13:08, Daniel Miller via dovecot wrote: > Logs: > > Jun 5 06:02:25 bubba dovecot: imap(dmiller at amfes.com)<25877><IjkkJZOKPvKsOk9d>: Opening DB (RO)

For my primary namespace this is working fine - thanks to the developers! It also appears to work great for shared folders as well. But my virtual folders aren't returning results - at least not to the client. The logs show FTS Xapian opening several DB files and getting results - but nothing is being returned to client. Is this a config issue on my side or is this a current limitation of

Security issue
Hello, I am trying to convince our IT Manager that R is as safe as possible from IT security point of view - could you point me to something on the web / some reasons for why this is true? I do not think he has a specific concern but does not know the software and would like to understand the security implications. Thanks in advance Best Regards Martin Hanek Actuarial Analyst Glacier

Double Emails
Hi all, I originally posted this on postfix's mailing list but then realized that this COULD be a pop3 server problem since that downloads and deletes mail. This has only been happening since I upgraded from .99 to 1.0-7 ... Our users have been reporting double messages in their inbox, as well as emails that they deleted a long time ago reappearing. The only thing in my maillog is a

customflags and keywords
OK. After checking the 0.99->1.0 migration documentation, it seems I've been a little confused between customflags and keywords. (Though this is partly due to my repeated requests for clarification being ignored.) The page (http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/UpgradingDovecot) says 1.0 does not use .customflags any more. Now, I'm hoping they're still supported, in which case

UTF8_LANG: a much better idea
I've found a much better solution; it's standard (in Unicode itself), simple and more flexible: Unicode language tagging. It was made for just this purpose, in fact. A technical description is at http://www.unicode.org/unicode/reports/tr27/#tag which, like all specs, makes it sound a bit more complicated than it really is. It comes down to this: mark the language of text with U+E0001
