Migrating from Courier-IMAP to Dovecot
Hi! I'm currently trying to migrate from courier-imapd to dovecot... Unfortunately I'm experiences some difficulties here... Since I don't want any user to notice the change of the server backend I've tried changing the namespace in dovecot.conf to namespace private { separator = . location = maildir:~/Maildir prefix = INBOX. inbox = yes

Postfix + MySQL + IMAP + Squirrelmail + Virtual Domains + Web Management.
Greetings, I have long read and followed this list. I have also spent a considerable time with our good friend Google. I am a long time Sendmail user, about 15 yrs now. I have recently been looking into the newer services and the Postfix setup seems to be a very nice one. I am migrating a mail server from 3.x to 4.x and was intending on trying out Postfix on the 4.x server. I have found

courier mail for Centos
Are there existing rpms for courier mta? I am working from: http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-users-and-domains-with-postfix-courier-mysql-and-squirrelmail-fedora-14-x86_64 And am making progress with postfix and mysql, but looking ahead to other steps. I see squirrelmail is in EPEL.

mutt and dovecot
Hi, I setup squirrelmail with dovecot and everything worked. I moved users Maildir directores to ~/Maildir/INBOX.directory/ and updated the .subscriptions file to something like ^INBOX.directory squirrelmail picks this up, but I can't seem to get mutt to read this style. In fact I would have assumed that dovecot would read ~/Maildir/ as INBOX and everything under it as it stands, without

courier to dovecot migration
I have a quite old home server based on Debian 6.x packages using courier imap server (exim4, fetchmail, courier, apache2, squirrelmail) to keep my and my wife emails (about 25G). I want renew my server to Debian 10 (buster) and got a recommendation to use dovecot instead of courier. For this purpose I'm using a different PC as a sandbox. Debian 10 currently offer dovecot version 2.3.4.1

pop vs. imap inconsistancy
I am converting from courier and have noticed change in behaviour with Dovecot. I use maildirs with squirrelmail connecting by imap as well as a POP3 client. Courier would set the 'mail status-read' flag for any message which was downloaded with the POP3 interface. Dovecot apparently does not. Is this a bug or intended behaviour? If it is intentional, can it be changed with the config

Postfix/mysql/dovecot - Understanding password encryption
I am switching from a fedora/postfix/mysql/couriermail/squirrelmail to Centos/.../dovecot/roundcubemail and adding postfixadmin to the mix. my future with dovecot (?any recipe?)
Hallo I am very impressed from this howto's: 1) Postfix-Cyrus-Web-cyradm-HOWTO (mysql) http://www.delouw.ch/linux/postfix.phtml 2) Pop-Toaster using Qmail-Vmailmgr-Courier-SquirrelMail http://qvcs-guide.sourceforge.net/ (this work for me) I hope to build anything like above, but with Dovecot: [Postfix-tls-smtpauth-Dovecot-Mailadmin*-MySQL-SquirrelMail-https] Postgresql is ok for

converting from courier questions
I currently run postfix and courier on my mail servers with squirrelmail. The problem with courier is it seems to run so slow. The webmail takes forever to load if you have many mails. I have this set up in virtual domains with all longin and path info in an mysql database. I just joined the list and DID google before asking, hope this isn't a common question. With courier it looks for a

Dovecot Courier
Hello, I've been testing dovecot, and it appears to be much faster then courier-imap. I am using the latest .99 version, trying to make the transition from courier to dovecot as smooth as possible. We really only use IMAP via squirrelmail, I think I've got that worked out fine, changing a few settings in squirrelmail as the FAQ instructs and migrating the courier subscriptions to

Squirrelmail + Dovecot + Maildir
I have been struggling with getting my Fedora 7 box set up to use dovecot with Squirrelmail and Maildir. It works correctly with the exception of writing outgoing mail to the right folder (.Sent) or drafts (.Drafts). If I send a mail with Mutt, it writes the mail to the right place, so it has to be squirrelmail config or dovecot config. I want to use .Sent for sent-mail (~user/Maildir/.Sent) and

Sorry if this question has been asked before I looked through some of the archives before posting this. I am considering using dovecot on a small 35 user enviorment (only around 6 gigs of email) that will be primarly be used with squirrelmail for the MUA. I have been using dovecot for a few weeks now and really like it. It is a big improvement over uw-imap thats for sure. I was wondering how many

Namespace Problems
Hi all, after an update from dovecot beta version to 1.0.0.-1 today morning I had different effects: thunderbird-, kmail-, Apple-clients, pine and squirrelmail could receive email correct with imaps. But not MSOutlook!!! Varying the namespace configurations in dovecot.conf I got different results with MSOutlook working but with thunderbird, squirrelmail etc. all folders are displayed but not

Switch from MySQL/CourierMail to MySQL/Dovecot
Hello, new here. I am a Centos/Fedora user, and for the past 3 years have been running my mail server using Postfix/MySQL/CourierMail/Squirrelmail on Fedora. The current incantation of the tutorial is at: http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual-users-and-domains-with-postfix-courier-mysql-and-squirrelmail-centos-6.2-x86_64 Well it is time to rebuild my mailserver; this time on Centos 6.3. Rpm builders: Dovecot spec file
Maybe best asked to Axel... I'm re-building my server from scratch (the old one was MDK 10.1 -> Mandriva 2006.0 with Postfix/Courier) and I want to install the latest versions postfix/mysql/postfixadmin/dovecot/squirrelmail. I've been building Dovecot (and postfix) from tarballs/srpm in the past so I know more or less how it all fits together. But I wonder if 'old' patches

Ubuntu 9.x segmentation fault with vpopmail auth
I've been trying for 24 hours now, to get an IMAP server which will autenticate off of vpopmail cdb database and the auth module always segfaults on login. I'm using vpopmail 5.5.0 only because it is the only version which seems to create a dynamically linked version of the library. I tried latest releases dovecot 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. Also latest mercurial pulls of 1.1 and 1.2. Even old

Migrating from CourierMail to Dovecot
My current mail server is a Fedora12 system running postfix/mysql/couriermail/squirrelmail mix. My new server is a Centos6 running postfix/mysql/postfixadmin/dovecot/roundcube mix. I have 4 virtual domains and about 20 users; not a big setup by any measure. Both servers have the same host name, but are currently on separate subnets. My current plan is to stop services on the old server,
